Daedong vs. Mitsu? The Farmtracs come with both, but you have to move to the 300dtc or higher to get the mitsu engine. Does the Daedong have the reliabilty and longjevity?

I hope some of the Kioti owners jump in on this one - I've never heard a single complaint about that brand relating to engine problems. I can't say if the engines are the same spec as the Kioti's, but I can say after looking at them and reading what folks here have to say that they are making a very solid product.

They claim to have been making diesels since the '40s, and have a whole line up:
Daedong engines

Mine seems quite nice, have seen no complaints on the board.

I can only site an example: While at my dealer's one day, there was an older '90 LK3054 in the shop. The owner, a construction contractor, had problems with it running. There was virtually no oil left in the tractor, and when asked, the owner stated he had never changed the oil. The hour meter, which had quit a few years before stated 1000 hours. It appeared nothing had been maintained, yet the engine was still good, and with just a few minor repairs, was up and running strong again. Any engine that can take that kind of treatment is great in my book. I have 176 hours now on my CK20HST with no problems, but that's not a lot of hours. Daedong also makes diesels for large shipping. If it's good enough for that industry, I'm sure it's good enough for tractors. John

As long as I've been on TBN, I can not recall anyone ever mentioning an engine problem, regardless of manufacturer.

That's a very good point Mike. I think most of the problems are external to the engine. John

The only problem I have with my 3 cylinder diesel, is that it doesn't seem to use enough fuel. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
