I have a JD 4110 with 3PH. It's about 6 mo old with 50 hours.
I have noticed that the control lever for the 3PH needs to be pushed almost all the way up before I get any movement from my box blade. Are there any adjustments to correct this?

I'm not familiar with the 4000 series. I have the 5300. If you have draft control you might check it.

Tom, I guess it depends . . . , but my guess is "probably not". Now let's see if I can figure out how to explain what I mean. Try raising, then lowering your 3-point to the maximum direction both up and down with NO implement attached, and see how low the lift arms go (how close to the ground). Then back the tractor close to the box blade and raise the 3-point hitch so the lift arms are the same height as the pins you're going to attach them to on the box blade. You had to raise them over half way, didn't you? So, in other words, when the box blade is hooked up, the 3-point hitch is over half way up to start with, even if you do push the lever all the way to the lowest point, the arms can't go down any farther because the blox blade is holding them up, and by the same token, you can pull the lever back slowly, but nothing happens until you pull it back past the height that the box blade was already holding the arms.

Now that's what I found on my Kubotas, so if your Deere is different, then ignore this message and maybe someone else has a better answer. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Good answer, Bird. You might also try taking some of the "lost motion" out of the system. Many tractors have a left link that, although there is no screw adjustment, offers more than one connection option. If you shorten up this linkage and then level with your adjustable link, you eliminate some of the lost travel. Of course, if you need the full downward travel for an implement, such as a post hole digger, this might not be the best answer.

Jim, I usually forget about those connection options (even though my Kubotas had that, too); I guess because I never changed mine, but like you said, depending on your use, that might help.

We never could figure out why any one would use them on our farm tractors, but the "little guys' have to use everything they can get. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
