I reversed the lower lift pins on my 5' KK cutter and 5' KK boxblade to get the lift arms a little farther from the tires. Works great. The only drawback is that I have to loosen the sway chains/turnbuckle to get the lower links off the implement.

I just moved the pins to the rear holes on the lower draft links. It lifts the bush hog higher, and it moved it away from the tires. Changing them on the cutter or blade would make a lot more work hooking them up every time. Whereas the only time I have to use the front holes is if I use my dirt scoop, it won't go low enough when the pins are in the rear holes. That is on a 4110 tractor, but I would think, the same would work on most, it did on the Yanmar I had.

I will be checking this out today, however while hauling the Bush Hog home I lost half the pto shaft /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif, now I gotta figure out where to replace that from. The shield was jammed/rusted together and I knew it wouldn't go anywhere, just forgot about checking the shaft itself and it jumped onto the road somewhere---I backtracked and couldn't find it.

I assume these are a pretty standerd item?

I just use tension cords from the buckle to a hole in my TOPS to keep them in place. A couple days ago, when I was brush hogging one of those tension cords got knocked off the buckle for the first time ever, and the turnbuckle turned loose. Normally, they stay tight and the implement does not budge from side to side.

There is the problem, I have chains only where the turnbuckles are supposed to be. Looks like I will be shopping for a couple turnbuckles and a pto shaft too.

For the turnbuckles would that be a "dealer best" item? Or would a good hardware store carry some heavy enough?

I doubt you can get the right kind or quality turnbuckles at a hardware store. The factory ones don't seem to rust or jam up, as long as you lube them with silicone Super Lube like the other 3 ph points.

There isn't much room back there between the tires for stuff to move around. I'm surprised someone replaced the turnbuckles with chains.

Throw away those silly tiny cotter pins that they come with. Buy a set of tension cords.
