This was built from a scrap truck hitch yard and less than $10 of remnant steel. The 'riser' (center peice) is made from the arms that connect to the truck frame. The top reciever was a last minute addition inspired by a poster here on TBN.

I still have more tweaking, welding, grinding, sanding, painting to do, but the basic concept is there.

I hope this helps someone with plenty of scrap and time on their hands :)

Great info and great post. I know where I can get a couple of those hitches so I smell a project in the works. Thank you.

Very nice and clever! Recycled gear is the way to go!!

Please do not get mad at me for this question, it is an honest question. Why didn't you just weld the trailer hitch to your Quick 3 pt Hitch instead of making another 3 pt attachment?

I say this because, I was thinking about doing it. Maybe I am missing something with my thought process. If you had welded it slightly back on your quick hitch it would not interfere with an attachment when you are using the quick hitch. When you are done using the attachment, you just slip in your receiver hitch or whatever 2x2 slip receiver attachment and you skipped one step.

See my sketch. Do you see what I am saying?

Yep, I see what you're saying. I hadn't thought of it, but the drawback is that that the receiver wouldn't be centered.

However, on that very note, I _could_ weld a 2x2 reciever on each side to accept my gauge wheels control the depth of small, ground engaging attachments I have planned. What a thought!

Wouldn't you have PTO shaft clearance problems when the 3 point hitch was at certain levels?

yep, it would if was using that combo, but I haven't figured a reason to do so. Can you think of one that maybe I'm just overlooking?

If Chuckanut's idea is to weld a horizontal member across the bottom of the quick hitch THAT will interfere with the PTO and is the exact reason your's is a separate attachment.

Don't forget there is nothing but gravity holding the 3ph down.

Oh...oops...I didn't quite get that. Yeah, that would put some pretty severe limitations on the quickhitch in terms of PTO usage and using it as a logging arch.

But, Chuckanut, I do want to thank you. The misunderstanding has given me an idea for guage wheels on a quickhitch. Thanks again.

Ohhgghh!! :( The PTO! Yep, I knew i was missing something so simple.

I was thinking a box blade, rake, boom, ect. and forgot the ovious Mowers, rototiller, auger, ect.

Mmmm. Guage wheels on the Quickhitch... Ahh, I am going to keep quiet on this one. :D
