For several years I used a Woods 650 mounted on the 3pt of my Ford 1710. For the most part I didn't horse it, but one day I pushed it a little digging out a 24" pine stump and loosened (didn't break a casting) the transfer-tranny bond, leaking a little hydraulic. Learned my lesson. My fix was to pick up an old Cat backhoe for digging holes and sell the Woods.
I sold Massey compacts for a time and can attest to the fact that even a slightly mis-designed FEL mount can pass on enough stress to crack major castings. (Affected the 45 and 55 HP units)
If you're going to mount a backhoe on a compact tractor, seriously consider a subframe.
