Any reason my 2006 L2800 3ph would not go all the way up? it only lifts the mower deck about 3 inches off the ground. I adjusted the top link & now it moves to within a couple inches of the top. I read here that it's best to leave a little play at the top of the travel. But I can't figure out how it got that way in the 1st place. If it recovers on it's own, I could be in big trouble.

I just purchased this tractor & failed to completely check out the 3ph. From what the seller told me it's always worked well for him, other than having the valve replaced to get smooth operation. It does move well, just not to the top of it's travel, prior to my adjustment.

Thank you.

this problem normally is related to the hole used on the drop link on the rear lift arm. For mowers it should be in the top hole.

Casey,

I assume you adjusted the external followup rod to make the hitch arms move higher.

You should set it so there is still some free movement when the hitch is fully hydraulically raised so the pump is not working against relief and building heat.

If you did not adjust the rod, grab the empty hitch arms and raise them to the top - make a mark on the top cover to arm with a magic market or chalk. Let them down and then start the tractor and pull the postion control lever all the way back. The hitch arms should raise to almost the line up of the two marks - if not shorten the rod to get some more lift height. If it goes to mark and the engine loads, shorten the rod until the marks are not lined up but almost. Again, you should leave a bit of travel for the valve to fully neutralize at full height.

Good luck!

^^^ +1 Yankee got it if your 3ph lever pops back to hold at the top of travel now.

Adjust the follower so the 3ph lever pops back to hold right before the hydraulics top out. Mine (BX) has a nut near the lift pivot. It's on a long threaded rod, sort of running back to the 3ph valve.

I only know about it because mine came from the dealer adjusted wrong.

Thank you gentlemen, I appreciate the feedback. I set the lift height with the adjusting rod under the left side of the seat just below the 3pt lift arm pivot. I adjusted it so that there was about 1 1/2 - 2 inches of travel left at the lift arm ends. I think this should be sufficient.

I tried it out with my mower this afternoon, it operated as I expected it would.

It still seems odd to me that it would have ever been that far off in the first place.

Thanks again,

Casey

My 3ph would drag on the ground, so yes it can be that far off, right from the dealer... :( then again, that may be why my dealer is no longer around...

Casey where are you from that you could be cutting grass now? Just curious...we still have a foot of hard packed snow out there.

I'm in the Willamette valley of Oregon. I've got some tall dead weeds from last year that I want to knock down in the pasture before we turn out a few calves. Hoping the grass will have a better chance. Rare that we get any snow here at all.
