3PH wood splitter

I built a 3pt log splitter this summer (check out my post on TBN). I really enjoy it. I can drive to the cut log and split it right there where I dropped it. Once split, I load up the loader with wood and off I go. That is my two sense.

Funny, Beenthere, I am just the opposite. A screaming small engine drives me nuts.

My dad bought the 3ph splitter from TSC. It goes on a 54 hp David Brown 990 Ag tractor. Just at idle, it is plenty fast enough, and you have a nice quiet (comparatively) idling diesel. Now for CUT's, they may need more RPM to get adequate speed. Dunno. The splitter was something like $550. After hoses to run it, it was about $650. Splits fine, flips from horizontal to vertical. His tractor does not have a loader, so that is not an issue. Though it wouldn't matter, there is a Ford 800 for the trailer of split wood, 2 international TD 9 crawler's for skidding and a John Deere 510 TLB to pick stuff up if needed. Like you say, to each there own, that's why there are choices. I love this country.
