3point linkage arms slow

The 3point linkage arms on my 2140 are giving me trouble. When I shift the lever for the arms to go up when the tractor is cold they are very slow to go up and down. When the tractor has warmed up they are better but they start off very slowly then when they get to about halfway they are fast to go right up, go down ok. Any ideas?

Is there a load on your 3 point hitch or is it just empty?

Usually when the 3pt arms are empty they would go down very slowly.

Correct, but when going up they take approximately 30 seconds to get right up when I've pushed the lever back.

Have you checked the adjustment of the 3pt "drop rate" knob? Should be a knurled yellow knob that controls how fast the 3pt will drop. If it's too tight; can also affect the time to raise the arms, too.

'Course, when it's cold; everything is slower to respond cause the hyd oil is thicker. Depends upon just how cold it is..

Is the drop rate knob just in front of the seat, if so my 2140 is missing that knob but I can turn without it.

By cold I mean the ambient air temperature is about 10 degrees Celsius here in N.Z in the mornings, Autumn at the moment. My other tractors are fine, they respond instantly but this just seems like there is an issue.

Rate of drop screw on a 2140 has no affect on raising 3pt only lowering speed. parts key #14(ball)sits over return orifice but not pressure orifice

Have you checked/cleaned the filter screen(R27173,parts key #21) in frt hyd pump??? I'd also recommend checking stand-by pressure. Should be 2250 psi. I'd also recommend setting L/D control lever in "D"
