Those little 200 series suitcase weights are inadequate in the face of a loaded 30" rear scoop dangling a few feet off the ground. You might want to consider fluid in your front tires. Depending upon your choice of ballast, you can safely add over 100# to a pair of 6.00x16 tires.

Hey Greg,

Which size scoop do you recommend for my little 224, 24" or 30"? And do you have a perference as to the King Kutter versus the Howse?

That's a great idea, about putting liquid in my front tires. Do you know which is the least expensive fluid, that will not freeze in the cold weather. Is windshield Washer Fluid acceptable? I don't want to harm the Tires though. I've never put fluid in my tires. CAn I do it myself, and what will I need to do it?

The Rain was Blow'n and the Trailer was rock'n, when Dennis came Knock'n. The Neighbors were all leaving, like the FlintStones in a hurry. It was coming straight for me, but turned North a few hours before landfall. The eye of the storm, missed me by about 50 miles.

The Women on the Weather Channel was getting so excited, that I thought they were going to expose themselves. Jim Cantory, was standing over at Pensacola, waving his arms and calling the Hogs. I guess the Hurricane heard him and veered straight in his direction.

I understand that you'all got some residual effects from Dennis as well.

AnyWay, I was really lucky in this one, but I have some soil erosion, that I need to get repaired. I would use the boxblade, but that would destroy the grass that I have finally gotten to grow a little bit down here. A good scoop, should get the job done on my place, this time.

By the time you buy or rig the pump and vent needed to do-it-yourself, I think paying a tire dealer is more practical. Windshield wiper fluid is virtually the same weight as water. You want something that weighs more pounds per gallon. My Yanmar had used antifreeze for ballast, cheap and always available at the local JiffyLube (before it burned down).

The Goodyear dealer in the next town said he'd ballast my 8.30x20 KAMA fronts for $52. They hold about twice as much as your 6.00x16s, so I might guess you're looking at an under-$30 job. But I think he's talking magnesium chloride, so I'm holding off till I can get a price on RimGuard

If I were buying a TPH scoop for a 224, I think I'd seriously consider the 24" Howse. A YM1700 by the way, is 17 PTO hp and ~20 engine hp.

Dennis brought some long-needed relief to my pastures. The remnants are only just now trailing east.
