My TC 45 has a bent adjustment bar on one side of the 3 pt hitch. I don't think that is the official name but it is the bar that you place the pin in to adjust left or right and keeps the arms off the tire. Does this part have an official name. I would like to get a price from Messicks since a friend is the one who bent it and will now replace it! Thanks in advance.

T.D., I think those are called lower links, left and right. The center link on top is called a toplink. Sometimes they are just called lift arms, but the lift arms are normally the parts that come out of the tractor and attach to the lower links.

How old is your tractor? Here is some info that may help you, but if you are out of warranty, you may not be able to get your lower links replaced for free.

Back in 2002, I had a problem and a very helpful dealer (spencer200) posted this info for me.

( If you are still under warranty New Holland should replace your bent arms. They are aware that the original steel in these was too soft and replaced them. Have your dealer refer to asist bulletin Rq8908 Class 3 boomers Serial number g508677 and up came with the improved arms. If you do have the improved arm New Holland will still replace if under warranty. Standard Warranty applies to this problem )

My dealer replaced my arms for free because they were made with metal that was too soft. Here is a link to a photo:

bent lower link

I hope this helps.

Jim could he be speaking of the adjustable sway bars instead of the lower links? Kinda hard to tell in this instance, But he does mention pins and the device to keep the arms off the tires.

Yep.. sway bars are my guess as well.

Yep, Mike. I think you are probably right. I am guilty of not reading closely enough. I actually had one of those anti-sway stabilizers bend when my lower link bent. I was able to remove it and straighten it carefully. If it's bent severly, I think the outer part probably would have to be straightened and then some additional support welded to the inside and outside where it would not interfere with the holes for the pin.

Jim, Mike and Soundguy,

Thanks for the help. I am talking about the sway bars. Sorry it wasn't clear. I guess I couuld take it off and try to bend it back as Jim stated. It is not bent too bad so that should work.

Thanks again.

You may also be able to get a generic turnbuckle chain sway setup.. My NH 7610s has this as a stock option, and my 1975 ford 5000 came with the solid bars.. but they are NLS by CNH, and they spec the same sway bar chain set as on my 7610s... so i put one on.. fit ok.. etc..

SoundGuy maybe your situation is different than mine but on my last tractor I had to tighten the turnbuckle then tighten up a captive nut against the turnbuckle or they would loosen every-time. That meant carrying an open-end wrench in the toolbox.

With our current New Holland setup it's as simple as lining up a hole and dropping a captive pin in and the deed is done.

I've seen them called adjustable stabilizer bars, too. My Kubota had the turnbuckle arrangement, the DX has the hole and pin arrangement. I think the turnbuckle is not as handy, but allows you to get things placed more precisely.

I'm using my backblade offset to one side lately, running outside the tires at an angle and dragging gravel back into the driveway. It's not real simple getting it to stay where I want it with the pins -- it has some slop in the arrangement. Any suggestions other than getting a big turnbuckle?

And the problem with that is??? I don't ride my tractor anywhere without some basic tools in the box.. an adjustable wrench, pliers, wire cutters.. wire.. extra lynch pins.. and a few bolts and nuts. Sure comes in handy to have some tools when you are broke down in the back of your pasture and a couple miles from your house and have to pull a fuel line off and blow it out.. or else walk a looong way home.. etc ( been there.. done that ( had tools )..)

I like the adjsutable chains.. and I don't find that I have to continously re-adjust them any more than a fixed swaybar set would have to be changed. once they are adjusted for an implement.. they are set. The nice part about chains is that if you have an OS or US piece of equipment.. you can adjust the chains to fit.. not so with the bars. For instance.. i use a magrix cat 1 cone spready on my 5000 with cat 1-2 bushings.. If I would have had factory bars .. I'd be outta luck.
