Your right, but i think you could still provide downpressure to a rear 3pt blade and have traction. There would be a fine line between too much downpressure and just enough. To much, and you will sit there and spin.

I put a Cat-0 3-point hitch on my old Simplicity Sovern and it had down pressure. It was very usefull when using my 3-point hitch backhoe I made. It really helped stabilize the whole machine.

I have a Belarus 525 that I purchased new in 1990. The down pressure on the 3 pt hitch is strong enough to lift the rear wheels.

Both Fendt and Belarus have down pressure on their 3pth. certain IH tractors in the late 50s early 60s did also.

If Belarus can do it why not Deere or Kubota?? I would think it would be a major selling feature.

7020 does have down pressure it's electricaly controled and can be used for downpressure or dampening. I have the brochure and a local farmer has simular 4wd's that have them.

Dave,

The clay in my yard is so hard that during dry spells its hard to drive a stake into it. I tried to auger some holes during one of those dry spells and could not even get the cast auger tip to penetrate. (nevermind the sheeetmetal helixes- it never penetrated far enough for them to engage) Once those helixes engage, I think they help suck the auger into the ground by virtue of their geometry. Its just that on mine, they would need to overcome the flotation of that small, bullet nosed tip. No one would every think about designing a drill like that tip unless they were drilling mud. Next time, I'll grind some grooves in the tip so that it will cut to center. And like any drill or cutter- relieve it behind the cutting edge.

no cut's with downpressure that i have seen, but befco came out with a down force kit for the posthole digger, will fit new and adapt to old befco models. Posibly it coul be adapted to other barnds of post hole diggers.

I have been looking into this for a bit.

The local dealer had a Shibaura (grey) that had down pressure. Not sure if it was added on later or was built with it.

The Kubota sales rep for the area said Kubota was going to make it standard on the L series but research found that people would use it to a degree that the tractors suffered damage.

I'm thinking about adding my own. I need it for my box blade. I was just going to hook into my remotes.

Kubota found out people might damage the tractors buy using it. This is prabally true, but with just the right amout of downpressure this problem can be elimanted.

Like if a CUT has a 2400lbs lift capacity at the 3ph hitch. Then maybe only have 1000lbs of downpressure. This would be enough to make the impliment work better, and not enough that it causes damage to the impliment or tractor.
