I am in the process of purchasing a 3pt post hole digger for a compact tractor Kubota B7800.
I wish to ask if anyone has had any review on the Linebach L7200 Jr???
This is the one recommended by linebach for my tractor.
thanks in advance and Happy Turkey day to one and all.

I can't speak for the 7200 but I will say the 7300 is a great product. I have a NH TC29 and the Lineback worked great drilling 9" holes in very rocky soil.

I think Linebach makes a great product...my two cents.

I purchased the Leinbach L7300 for my B7610 and it works great. I only have about 6 to 8 inches of clearance with the 3PH fully raised. I think the "jr" might have been better and I was hesitant to buy the "jr" for reasons I can't remember now. I saw another TBN memeber with photos of the L7300 on his B7610 and I went with the full size PHD.

I bought a complete kit including the 6", 9" and 12" augers. You definitely have to be careful and not dig too fast becasue you will stick the auger (especially the 12") very easily and then it is a pain from there. You need to dig a few inches, raise the auger and spin the auger to clear the flights.

I have put in about 20 12" holes that are 36" to 40" deep and I am happy overall.

A couple questions about the Leinbach's. I have been rolling around the idea of getting one. Leinbach has a 7200jr and 7200. I noticed the 7200 and 7200jr has the metal rod handle while the 7300 does not. I have been wondering about the 7200 compared to the 7300. Does the metal handle help significantly, and why does the 7300 not have it?

akjohnston - I have a L7200JR mounted to my BX24 and would recommend it to you. Currently, I have another thread going, within the same forum, in regards to the best way to operate this piece of equipment. In my limited use, it was easy to install and seems to take a good beating for less price than a LandPride version. Not knocking on LandPride since I have never used one of theirs, just the price is so much cheaper.

Redbug - The L7200 and L7200JR have a pendulum swing between the gearbox and the auger. My understanding (by reading the 7200JR manual) that the 7300 doesn't have this same swing motion to line up the auger with the hole. The metal rod is used to position the auger while still sitting in the operators seats. One major problem with the metal rod is that you can accidentally bend it like I have. If you don't watch it, the rod can get caught under the U-shapped frame.

If any use to anyone, attached are 3 photos of my L7200JR mounted to my BX24.

I have the 7200 and it works just fine.
It does have that handle to position the auger and you have to be careful with it. My wife was operating it from the seat when she pulled up the 3pt to clear the dirt out. She got her hand caught between the back of her seat and the end of that handle and got a pretty good gash. I ended up putting a generous bend in the end of the handle like a "D" shaped shovel handle.

In reading the difference between the 7200 and the 7300 (which does not come with the positioning handle) the only difference I could see was that the 7300 has a heavier casing. They look to have the same "swinging" gear box design so I don't know why the 7300 doesn't have the handle on it unless what thavil said, "not the same swinging motion" is the difference. But I couldn't tell from the product photos and descriptions below...

The LEINBACH LINE L-7300 post hole digger is made with a strong tubular boom. The top angle hook allows for the digger to be hung in an upright position for storage. The gearbox has tapered roller bearings, which run in oil. The heavier casing of the gearbox is designed not to use a guiding rod. The individual one piece cutting bit is replaceable. The seven hole position 3 point hitch allows for adjustment to fit most tractors. The four augers sizes are 4", 6", 9" and 12". The weight of each is 4"-15 lbs. 6"-25 lbs. 9"-34 lbs. 12"-44 lbs. The digger alone weighs 157 pounds.

The LEINBACH LINE L-7200 post hole digger is designed with a strong tubular boom with an end hook to pull up posts for resetting. The top angle hook allows for the digger to be hung in an upright position for storage. The adjustable control handle (black rod) allows for positioning of the swinging gearbox from the tractor seat or a rear standing position away from the digger. Thus the auger can be positioned to dig a straight hole. The gearbox has tapered roller bearings, which run in oil. The individual one piece cutting bit is replaceable. Thanks Thavil and Rob.

That answers my questions. I think I will get the L7200. It has the handle and will do what I need. I plan to get 4" and 12" augers. I appreciate your opinions.

I believe I have the 7200 unit as mine has the handle. Mine worked flawlessly to install a mile of horse fence earlier last year (took me almost 6 month to finish). After trying to use the handle for a few holes, I ditched it. I found that with careful driving and fastidious use of the 3pth depth lever, I could set the auger dead on the correct spot and then start it at a very low rpm to get a plumb hole. I had a few situations when the auger would hit a tree root and angled over, but I am not sure the handle would have corrected this. In short I found the handle more of a hazard than a help.

Also, do not get the auger stuck. I got mine stuck once.......ONCE! from then on out I was very cautious to not do it again. I began to question the concept of a diesel powered cork screw that will only turn in one direction.

What kind of fence took six months to install? That's some kind of record.

It was just me and I was working on weekends and after work. The wife "helped" me a few times, but it was mostly me. Working on my own was pretty tough, and there was just shy of a mile of fence in all. There was also a lot of trees that needed to be pushed out of my way.

Don't pick on my fence job, I busted my *** on that one and I am really proud of it.:D It was my first project on our property, and one of the biggest I ever tackled.
