And wasn't I pleased to find this site? Been having a look at things the last couple of days and I'm impressed with the great amount of knowledge freely shared here. Well done! Picked up a nice little B2710, and it came with an Ezee-On 1400 3pt. PTO driven post pounder. Just moved to this part of the country and feature the land here to be harboring some pretty good sized rocks. I'm not that inclined to beating my machines up driving posts. Seriously considering having a little trailer fabricated to mount the pounder on, but this will mean extending the hydraulic hoses a couple of feet in order to reach the PTO. Aside from needing to top fluid up, I'm wondering if I'm looking at any other problems if I follow through on the plan. Anyone have any advice/experience they'd care to share?

Have you tried it and know this to be true?

It's sometimes difficult enough accurately locating the tractor/driver combination so the post gets driven where you want it. Trying to locate a trailer combination will be worse, at least it would be for me. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Take a look at the EZee-On Model 2400 which is the factory model that comes on a trailer to see how they did it. Notice they did not extend the hoses, rather they have everything on the trailer. Might ask yourself why they decided to install a separate gas engine to run the pump or better yet, give them a call at (780) 632-2126 (Alberta, Canada) and ask them why.

And if you aren't satisfied with their answer, then just sell your unit to someone IN Alberta, Canada /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have a Danuser post driver. I don't think that it is hard on the tractor in anyway. I have several implements that are much harder on the tractor, than my post driver. The only thing that using the post driver does to the tractor is a slight bounce, when the weight is taken off of the tractor as the driver contacts a post.

I have a Worksaver and I agree, which is why I asked the question. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

It shakes the tractor alot but I don't think there is anything that the pounder is tearing up. I've pounded thousands of posts with mine and my tractor has over 2000 hours and still, knock on wood, no repairs to speak of.

Appreciate your replys. I've put in a few posts out here already, and yes, it does rock my little tractor pretty hard when I get into some tough going. Hence my interest in letting a trailer take the jolt. I appreciate what you say about positioning a pounder, Mike. My neighbour back in Alberta rigged up a slick unit to mount on the FEL of his JD7810 and it was one of the nicest deals I've ever worked. Never a problem getting anything where you wanted with that. I note that Ezee-On offers the 2400 in both PTO and engine driven models. I know where I'm from in central Alberta, some guys will tow an engine driven model behind a 1/2 ton when they're fencing and this type of unit is popular with the rental stores. I really do hate to disappoint you, Kevin, /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif but I think I'll be keeping this one way or another. Looking seriously at heading back to Alberta to purchase some other attachments, though. Just saving seven and a half percent provincial sales tax on the backhoe alone makes the trip worthwhile. If you can recommend any dealers for rotary mowers, rakes etc. I'd be grateful.

Thanks all,

Art

Art,

Where would you be going in AB to get the attachments? If you're heading to Calgary, there is a massive Kubota dealer on Highway 1 heading to Banff. It is Aitken's Tractorland . I haven't bought from them, but I've talked to them and they were very helpful and willing to spend time. They also seem to have a significant inventory.

If you are more in the Edmonton area, we just lost our Kubota dealer (Tomcat Machinery). There is a new place called "Edmonton Kubota" that I've no dealings with. All the sales and tech guys for Tomcat apparently went to work for Key Ag Ventures which has opened up a new branch in Leduc to service the greater Edmonton area.

I bought my Kubota at Lamont Farm Center. There is a Kubota dealer in Camrose as well.

If you are just looking for generic attachments (non-Kubota), I picked up my tiller, rough cut mower and rear blade at Flamans (Nisku). I think their prices are respectable.

Let me know if I can help you track something down locally to help you avoid long distance charges. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
