Hi all,

A lot of attachments I've seen that connect to the 3 point hitch of the tractor use what I'm, at the moment, calling a "mounting triangle". What is it's proper name? And like a triangle it has "2 sides & a base"; again, what are the correct names? Also, is it possible to build your own? And if it is, can it be built without welding? If so, any pictures, sites, etc. appreciated?

Thanks,
Ray

Are you talking about a triangle-style quick hitch like the ones mentioned in this thread (especially this link)? They consist of a part mounted to the tractor and another mating part that mounts to each of your implements but they're largely proprietary. The U-shaped hitches are more standard, but have issues with lower connection widths and/or toplink height.

I've never heard of a single name for the triangle you describe, other than the three point hitch. On the tractor side it is made up of two lower links and one upper link or top link. On the implement side, there are two lower link pins and one upper link attach point. I believe there is an SAE standard for the dimensions and such, but I don't have my SAE books here.
