I've alway had a problem of getting the implement level (side to side) to the tractor. Most of the time I need to lower or raise the 3pt arm, on one side (counting the turns on the crank), to hook up my implement. Once hooked up I would raise the implement and turn the crank the amount counted during hook-up back in the other direction. Then stand back and look to see if the implement was level with the housing on the tractor. Also the same was done when using the blade or rake to slope grades or crown roads. Its a real PITA! So I made up this indicator. Basically it works like the loader bucket level indicator, the tube and rod type. It took about 1/2 hr to get to the point seen in the attached picture. Had about $9 in steel, of which I only used 1/3 of. After leveling the implement I removed it (indicator) and cut a notch in the rod indicating level. Cleaned it up a bit and coated a few times with paint. The rod is cut to a length so when it is flush with the tube, there are still enough threads on the adjuster to safely use (for lifting). A few times I was cranking and the rod threaded all the way out and came apart.
I'll post pictures when it is all finished.
I think this idea would work really well with a hydraulic tilt. Many be even with an indicator (cable, etc.) mounted in the cockpit.
