John Deere 4100 with 410 loader
Just finished 99% of the fab work for the attachment. Got lots of pictures but I'd thought I'd start with a teaser. HAha:laughing:

I needed a fork attachment for my FEL, but didn't like the prices. Decided to make an attachment I could use my 3pt fork attachment and move or use the others I have off the front for getting into tight places with more finesse. I added some hooks and a 2" receiver for moving around trailers and mounting a winch. My 410 loader has a removable bucket and a quick attach system, but JD wanted 1400 plus for a blank attachment plate. So DIY time!

I'll start posting some pics of the project soon.

Here's some mock up pics.

I used a pipe to get the curve of the mount I needed then reinforced it with 1/4 inch by 1.5 inch stock. I used rectangular tubing from an old Walmart warehouse carousel I purchased at a local scrap place. John deere has a convenient attach system, just a shame they want so much for it.

I have to thank Wirenut for the idea about the sliding bottom mounts for the 3pt. I was originally going to buy a quick attach at harbor freight and just weld it on, but after I saw how he did his I thought I'd save the money. I put the receiver on to be able to move my small trailer around to a nicer out of the way spot. Although I have a good amount of property there's not a good turn around so it makes parking the trailer a little difficult. I'll be making the turn around sometime soon. I just got to moving around the 20+ yards of gravel I had dumped last month. I'll get to cleaning it up a little and maybe adding a few chain attachment points to it then paint it.

Was grinding off the paint on the scrap steel I used and came across a "Made in USA" stamping. Awesome! Nice to see that for a change.

Nice mod. If you want to take it a bit further, these fork grapples may add to the versatility of the forks.

That looks awesome. I've seen those on forklifts used for sheets of light material and tobacco sheets. Unfortunately I think if I add any more weight to the attachment it won't be able to pick up a bag of dog food! haha According to my factory manual I think my lifting cap is only 700lbs, a tad less actually.:( I would've thought at least close to 1k, but eh. Got to work with what i got. Been happy with it so far and it can get into tight places around the house move dirt around that I wouldn't have been able to to with a larger one.

Really a good idea. Never thought of that but now I think I may have a new project!
