3pt won't lift

Re: 3pt won\'t lift

I'm with Bird. this may not be the problem, but it's useful to know anyway. Priority selectors seem to feed remotes at the expense of the lift. My grasp of hydraulics is shaky, so maybe somebody will straighten me out if I've got it wrong.

I took off my backhoe recently. When I pulled forward, the lift went to the ground and wouldn't rise. After a short scare, I realized that I left the valve for the rear hydraulics bungeed open (to feed the backhoe). Took off the bungee, and up comes the lift. WHEW.

Re: 3pt won\'t lift

Myself, I'd just ignore it. This sort of stuff seems to be left over from the days when kids dominated the net, and flaming was fashionable. It's just attention getting from people who don't seem to know any other way to get the world to react to them. If it gets attention, they're always back for more.

There was something similar the other day. I'm happy to see that nobody reacted much. Ho hum, just kids stuff. Well, we all grow up sometime.

Re: 3pt won\'t lift

Russ, I used to own a Ford 1500 that did the same thing...Yes I did say Ford aka NH (Blue). After contacting the dealer it was a 5 minute fix. The shaft that the control arm bolts to had worked its way loose. on the 1500 there is also an adjustment nut at this pont. check the retaining nut on the end of the control arm shaft. use a back up wrench on the inside nut while tightening the out bound. Hope this helps with your problem and good luck./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Re: 3pt won\'t lift

I had this same problem on my old B20. What happened was the lock valve broke off inside the hydraullic assembly and it prevented the 3pt hitch from lifting. Good Luck!

Re: 3pt won\'t lift

Well not sure what it was. I went out and re-checked everything (oil, linkage, etc.). I started it up saturday morning and presto it worked, strange... I messed around for 10 minutes Friday with no lift at all. Maybe I had the loader valve stuck or something, but I remember moving it up and down with no change on the 3pt. Anyway thanks to everyone on the suggestions. I put 4 hours on it brush hogging without a problem (lots of 3pt lifting).

Re: 3pt won\'t lift

Russ,
Glad to hear your 3pts hitch is working once again.
Sounds like Bird hit the nail right on the head.

Have fun and stay safe.
