Not much to add, but dont always believe the marketing hype.

Not knocking summit, but there is nothing wrong with DO3 valves. Certainly not the extent that they claim. D03 stuff is used in continuous duty industrial stiff all the time.

Hey Steve 3650,
Was wondering if you have your valve installed yet , I am thinking of maybe ordering that same valve from Summit and buying a piece at a time AS budget allows , Thanks Dan

Good morning Dan,
Ironically I just ordered a kit yesterday!
I have an OCD personality, and don't easily make decisions. I seldom do anything that I don't wish that I had done it differently in the end.
To answer your question, I did not go with the Summit kit mainly because their monoblock valve requires a fifth hose. For my specific installation, another hose to tee in might be a problem.
After comparing several kits based on cost and content, I chose a kit from Durattach that comes without hoses.
I won't totally know my lay out until I have parts in hand. I can create my own brackets and hoses so I'm not too concerned.
Good luck with your project Dan.
Steve

Hey Steve,
Thanks for responding, I have followed your thread and have learned alot from the guys that are very versed in hydralics, I have seen the Durattach site and some of the others, I hope you post your progress AS you work through your project AS we are heading in the same direction with Third function and / or a diverter valve . I have been looking at the $465 valve is this the same that you ordered ? Pictures would be great too if you can , I can`t seem to Get the pictures to post , Thanks Again Dan

In my opinion a diverter is the best solenoid type option if a true third function scv isn't available. My tractor actually HAS a third unused spool but I figured it would be easier to do a diverter and I still have the extra spool if I want it later.

I'm sure someone will differ with this opinion but I see no reason to operate the bucket curl and grapple clamp simultaneously. A diverter with a momentary switch allows you to switch from curl to clamp open/close and automatically goes back to normal as soon as you release the button. It took me a few times to remember to move the loader handle back to neutral before releasing the button but I am good with it now.

I used a DSV-62-08-12 solenoid selector valve. (currently $118 at Bailey) It has common #8 SAE oring boss ports so adapters are readily available. Very easy to plumb! You just move the bucket curl hoses to the inlet ports, add hoses to the opposite side ports back to the bucket curl lines, and add a couple of hoses for the grapple. Then you just need a momentary switch on the loader handle to activate the solenoid.

My method and specific components won't apply to your tractors but it may give some insight on using a solenoid selector valve to divert the hydraulics.

Since that post I had to aim the inlet hoses at an upward angle to prevent chafing and I replaced the grapple hoses with a couple of shorter ones from TS.

You don't have to get fancy on the momentary switch. I imagine you can find some sort of surface mount switch you could zip tie to the handle. The valve only draws 2-1/2 amps so you won't need fancy wiring and relays if you get a decent switch and appropriate wire size.

Agreed. There is no shortage of opinions. It's a double edge sword. The less experienced, such as myself, come here seeking knowledge from the more experienced then find out how many ways there are to skin a cat.

My neighbor uses his rear remotes. He thinks that works just fine. That method might depend on where your loader and remote controls are located.

A lot of guys like the diverter.

I chose the true 3rd function because each action is controlled by a specific button or motion. No overlap with control motions. If that makes any sense.

The bottom line. All methods will work. So each individual makes a choice how they think they can best work with their tractor to accomplish their goals.
Or how much time do I have, or maybe it is about the budget.

I won't know if I made the the right choice until the project is complete and put into use. But wait, I still won't know for sure unless I try all three for an appropriate amount of time.

I most likely will never know for sure.

Thanks to all who contribute and make life more interesting.

Steve
