About 2.5 years ago I purchased a Kubota Grand L3240. The following spring I purchased a Kubota 3rd function kit form my selling dealer, Chappell Tractor in Milford NH. At that time the kit was $750.00. I installed the kit myself. The install took me three days in total but I did not work steady on it every day. The install was not that hard but it was by no means easy. For example the areas where you are working are sometimes very cramped. Also the kit I received was missing a couple of parts thus requiring another 2 hour trip to the dealer, who was very accommodating. On my install I had to remove the right rear tire and rim which was loaded with beet juice. Well the wheel assembly fell to the ground while I was moving it alone. Since I do not have a backhoe righting the wheel, alone, was a challenge.
Was it worth it to do it myself? I don't know because I did not price the tractor with the 3rd function valve. But I sure learned a lot about my new tractor and I enjoy doing things like this.
