Planning to purchase a Kubota B7800HSD and wondering if a 4:1 bucket is available for this size CUT and if a B7800 tractor can handle it. Appreciate all comments pro and con.

Penokee,
Don't know what the lift capacity of the 402 is, but 4n1 buckets typically weigh quite a bit more. I know that mine weighs about 600-700 pounds. I use it on a NH TC40D. I love the 4n1, but it certainly reduces the lift capacity.

You might want to read this thread. There are some (resolvable) issues with the regenerative circuit on some of the Kubotas.

Yes, you can get a 60" 4-in-1 for your Kubota LA402. TBN advertiser, ATI Corporation, builds one. But, its a lot of bucket for that B7800 tractor. The 60" 4-in-1 bucket weighs 350 lbs. which is close to twice the original equipment bucket's weight.
4-in-1 buckets are great for working with brush. But on my 1520 Ford, which weighs hundreds of pounds more than a B7800, it is a lot of bucket hanging out there.
I think that it would be better to step up in tractor size to get a tractor with more total mass if you plan on using loader attachments. Don't deny yourself the pleasure & versatility of a 4-in-1 bucket over something as insignificant as a smaller tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Bucket, Grader, Grapple, ?????? What is the 4th function of a 4:1 bucket?

It also grades (cuts) going backwards. Open the bucket, dump the bucket and you have a cutting edge facing to the rear. Makes removing a thin layer easier since you can see what you are doing.

Wouldn't this be like a box blade?

Yes, except that a box blade usually has teeth to break the ground.

Much good information, thanks all. Clearer to me now, that if I want a 4:1 bucket a larger tractor may be needed. Have to decide if I have enough work for the 4:1 or do I stay with the B7800 and the standard bucket. Something for me to mentaly wrestle with while factoring in the all important buget issue. Have learned a lot from this Board in just a short time /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Penokee.

Hi, Waming up a bit this week. May have some summer yet.

I have a 4in1 on my Kubota and love the functions it allows me. I have done many things with it- light dozing, brush hauling, stump moving, along with the regular bucket things.

It has about 20% less volume than the regular bucket and mine weighs about 150lbs more but would not trade it for any regular bucket.

I still hold to the statement my dealer made to me- The L3130 is only a grand more than the B7800 and is a full sized CUT. You will get what you want , this is for sure but I traded and lost some money to finally get what I wanted in the first place. Many on TBN have traded up or sold and gone bigger. Except for RAT but he was at the top of the cuts and had other needs.

Hard choices. Best of luck on your decission.
