i have a 2200 mine is 4 ft. same as my loader bucket. i would not want one smaller then the width of the tires. if it is smaller you can not dig a straight wall(bank), also like anything else (even the big machines do it ) when you are doing some thing and the ground is tuff just take smaller bites using the tractor 100%, the rest of the time you can use the box blade 100 %
