Finally bought a JD loader for my JD 4400,while I was at it I decided to go with the 4 in 1 loader.I had people tell me the loader was the most handy thing on there tractor, well I would have to agree now,but I would also have to say the 4 in 1 bucket makes my loader even that much more useful, amazing the uses I have found
with a loader,a back saver and time saver.
I have used the loader to lift numerous T - posts out of the ground,I have grappled several logs 12" to 15" in diameter and 12' to 15' long and stacked them.Yesterday I removed part of an old electric pole out of the ground. The pole had been set 18 years ago and a couple of years ago it was cut of at ground level.I took the loader and scraped a little bit of dirt from around the pole and opened the 4 in 1 an wiggled the post around and lifted it up out of the ground, about 3' long and then went back an pulled the old ground rod up as well.Tree tops across a road in the woods,I opened the loader up and pulled the top out of the road and carried where I wanted to drop it and opened the loader and let it fall.Great investment for me.

Hillbilly, that’s a great addition to your tractor, congratulations on the new loader. How are the controls set up for your 4 in 1? Sounds like some have an extra lever and some a button to activate the jaws.

I think it was MarkC that used his to trim low branches from trees on his trails. Always thought that sounded like an unexpected use.

Hillbilly:

Congratulations on the addition. I agree with you on the utility of the 4-in-1 bucket. I just bought a Ford 1520 that had a 4-in-1 bucket on it. I had a lot of railroad ties that the previous owner had used for landscaping, that I had to move to do work on my driveway and some clearing for pasture. The 4-in-1 bucket just allowed me to pick them up and take them wherever I wanted them. I could even stack them neatly. A real back saver. I have also used it to clear downed trees from trails and the dozer capability with the bucket wide open has been usefull for moving dirt and manure piles. I don't think I will have another tractor without the 4-in-1.

Men,
The 4 in 1 bucket cost around $5500 installed of course.Sounds a little high...but I did not have any SCV's at all connections etc..this all had to be installed. It was a little steep. My dealer is on the high side, but I always get good service and all the good dealers are 30 to 50 miles away.
The bucket is 5' wide(430 loader).
It is easy to operate...2 levers....one to raise/lower and curl the bucket...and another lever located on top the right fender to open and close the bucket....it is easy a heck to use and operate....they talk about these JD loaders being so easy to disconnect and reconnect....heck I could not tell you one way or another...I have not had a reason to take it off and I cannot see me ever wanting to take it off/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gifalthough I am sure sometime it will need to come off.
