the sidewall flex, is directly related to the air pressure the tires are capable of running.

Take your choice! :D

Side wall flex is sorta Dependant on the air pressure in the tire.:D :D :D

But not completely if you have a high ply tire it may sit higher until load is applied!

Yep.. I got used aircraft tires on my 15' batwing mower.. those suckers can be out of air and the sidewall NOT flex because they are so dang thick... in their case.. air pressure makes -0- difference to sidewall flex as the tire casing is strong enough by itself to hold up the batwing weight..

You are lucky. Don't have to pay for air to fill the tires!:D:D:D

I am wondering how the tires worked out for the JD 4200. I am looking at a used one that needs new front turfs, checking around, I was shocked to find how little choice there is. Did you get the Carlisle 25 x 8.5 x 14 's , if not, did you find something else instead? Did you do 4 or 6 ply, how are they working out.

I would appreciate any info you or others have. this seems like a well maintained tractor, hope there aren't too many issues of difficult parts to get.

I bought 6-plys. They are inflated to 32psi. 4-plys would have been 22psi. When sitting, the sidewall flex is identical and is kind of disappointing. However, with a full bucket (~1000#) and a tight turn, its night and day. The 6-plys do not seems like they are about to fall off the rim while the 4-plys did. So it was obviously a wise choice to go with 6-plys.

I got a pair of load range D truck tires on the front of my tractor with a 6 foot loader. They dont squat a bit eve with my loader full of dirt. And they dont tear my yard up. Ive been told that ribbed tires will bite better but I dont believe it.

in a turn ribbed bite better than slicks.. that bite is what tears up the grass...
