Thanks for the info. I have spent several days looking and trying to make a decision. Here are the 3 new ones available locally (shipping costs negate any savings online and actually increase the price):

48" CountyLine available at Del's Farm and Garden: $999-

48" Taylor Pittsburgh at Massey dealer: $1099-

48" Woods HC48 at dealer: $1199-

The Woods is rated from 15-40 hp and comes with a 3 year gearbox warranty. It weighs 428 lbs. The Taylor-Pittsburgh is rated from 15-40hp and comes with a 5 year gearbox warranty. It weighs 430 lbs. The County Line is 15-40 hp and weighs 428 lbs. Not sure on its warranty.

PS- Can a moderator please change the title from inches to feet? I do understand that " is inches, and it should have been '. Thank you.

I would prefer either branded cutter over the Del/TSC Countyline at the prices you have listed.

From my experience Rotary Cutters and Box Blades are among most "bomb proof" of implements.

You can edit TITLES from the GO ADVANCED page, within a fairly short time frame.

From what I have found, CountyLine is actually made by King Kutter, and it is a made in USA product. Not sure if the other two are worth the price premium given the specs are the same.

40% correct, varies by geographic area, varies in time. Recent photos.

It is your money. Buy what will make you happy. Sometimes I buy the value implement too.

I have never seen a Countyline PTO implement without thick rust on the PTO splines. Why TSC does not protect the splines with Fluid Film and a cover I do not know. It would be worth $100 to you NOT to have to clean the rust off.
You cannot connect PTO shaft from the tractor to the implement unless splines are absolutely rust free, smooth and lubed with something light, not greased. And connecting PTO is still always a trial.

I would try to get the Taylor with a pricematch to the CountryLine.. However, the 2 extra years of warranty are prolly worth it.

I owned a 4 ft used Rhino cutter once. Cutters will come in light , med, and heavy duty. You'll pay more for a med & heavy duty cutter vs a light duty cutter.. If you have them in your area, try a farm equipment trade day/ flea market. That's where I found the used Rhino . I paid about 500.00 in good condition

If the Countyline is a King Kutter I would not be afraid of it. I wonder if you talked to the store manager if they would do any better on the price?

The Woods heritage is their cheaper line made to compete with places like tractor supply.

The Taylor may be the best way to go but I can't find a picture of one but I don't think you would go wrong with any of the 3.

If price not an issue take a look at Land Pride.

Besides price - which may be inflated by the seller - how do you tell the difference between LD, MD and HD cutters? Is there a list somewhere?

Thanks,
