Can anyone suggest a good source for a 15gpm+ 4-way 2-position solenoid valve assembly to act as a motor reverse? My usual sources don't stock it.

I want it to unjam an auger that gets stuck.

Thanks!

All the best,

Peter

If you can't find one, would a regular three position solenoid valve like the kind used for 3rd functions work? You'd energize it one way for forwards and the other way to reverse. In the non energized state the motor would be held in place as the work ports are closed.

If you're using a manual valve now to operate that circuit, you could possibly replace it with a regular three position spool valve like those used for rear remotes, and use that to control the speed and direction of the motor.

Since the auger does not have a lot of flywheel effect you can probably get by without a motor spool. A regular spool which closes the work ports in neutral will keep the auger from turning as you lift it which might be a good thing.

What are you using to power auger today?
Are you looking for something to mount in-line or something like D05 manifold mount? I believe most if not all D05 valves would handle 15 GPM

The auger has no direction control now. If it jams and the tractor can't can't lift it and break it free, the bit has to be unbolted, the auger decoupled, and then the auger torqued back with a 4' pipe wrench. Doable, but the reason I use the auger is because the ground is too hard/rock filled just to drive a post in with a post driver (my plan A for fence posts around here), which is to say I use the auger for the hard ones.

So, that is why I am looking for one of these. Parker makes a couple, but I can't seem to find anyone who sells it.

@ericm979 You are certainly right. I could use a three way, and just plug the "B" ports. It just is a little more plumbing as each line to the auger motor needs to be plumbed into two ports. (Just a pair of tees and some short hoses.)

@oldnslo yes, something that fits on a D05 base would be great. Just for logistics reasons, I would probably mount it on the auger motor, mainly to preserve the existing hoses.

All the best,

Peter

Peter,
If no valve how is the auger being powered today? That might provide ideas on valve type.

in this area motion industries is a supplier of Eaton Vickers now Danfoss and they should have a D05 option

going from memory but I think spool model code would be 2A for a 2 position valve with P to A & B to T.

Sorry. The auger is hydraulically driven from PTO ports on the FEL arms, with a solenoid in the tractor that turns it on and off. Power-Tracs have a quick attach plate in front where all the implements are mounted, and the PTO ports are built into the arms, like a Bobcat.

Long story short, the PTO control solenoid on my tractor is buried (need to drain the hydraulic tank, remove the fuel tank, and some ancillary hardware to get to it, and there isn't much space). I have a four way three position solenoid leftover from a different project, but it won't fit in the available space. So, plan B was to put the reversing solenoid on the auger as it is really the only PTO powered attachment that I own that needs reverse.

All the best,

Peter

Then like you say a simple 4way 2 position would work fine.

Any Parker, Rexroth, Eaton - Danfoss distributor should either have a valve or be able to get you one.

Thanks @oldnslo I will keep trying.

Bailey's has one(229324), but it just isn't a part listed on their website. Well the valve is listed in but you need a subplate that isn't listed. Subplate SD05H-12FS-S, part number 118832, also comes as a SD05H-16FS-S from other vendors (SD05H, H for high flow.) The high flow subplate D05 bumps the flow up from 12gpm to 25gpm

Description on Bailey site for that valve states action spring offset closed.

By that description is this valve all ports blocked in the spring loaded condition?
