40 acres of hay. What should I do?

You may want to clarify how "you can not combine the windrows because the tractor would be hitting them ". In my experience a windrow cannot be created until you rake it and if you are putting two windrows together, the width is not equal to 2 swaths (which is what a windrow is before you rake it). Not trying to be smart, just wondering if you are baling in a different manner to what I am accustomed to. The other comments on twines on cut side are correct.

As far as MF dealers having the units, the MF1835 was just introduced for this season, so it may take a little while for dealers to get them in from what I've heard.

Either way, I like the small round balers as I am getting too old to pick up many more small squares.

Take care.

The doubled windrow is too high to straddle.

It sure would take a fast baler to sqaure a doubled windrow!
My grandpa always told me never double the windrow cause you'll spend more time stopping, waiting for the baler to catch up, retying bales, etc. than it would take to make another swipe. I'd like to see one of these new inline sqaures in action maybe you can point us to a show where we could see them in action.
Incidently I started doing custom haying this year and over half the folks that want hay done here in KY want sqaures. Especially horse guys. Means I got to find a good quick sqaure baler. My old IH just takes too long.

The NH 575 can take a double windrow with ease if you have the horses to run it. Check www.fastline.com for balers as they have a great site and you might find one real close to you.

I don't have any problem at all running double windrows with my JD baler. The only thing that holds me back is the guys stacking on the wagon. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif If I just drop them on the field I can easily go 5-8 mph with a double windrow.

Balers must have come a long way since the older IHs and MF 12s, 124s etc that I am accustomed to. What particular model JD and NH are you guys speaking of?

I have a 575 and I think doc runs a 328. I would imagine Hesston has a high capacity baler also but I don't follow them too close. The only real limits on these balers are if you pull wagons as the wagons will fill up fast. If you run a NH bale wagon so you can drop them on the ground you can do a lot of hay in a day.

Ditto what Robert said. I do run a 328. If the hays dry she'll bale pretty much as fast as you want. NH's are great too.
