My brother-in-law has a jd 4010. He says the cruise control stays activated when he hits his brakes. Seems that would be dangerous. Question to any 4010 owner. Does your 4010 cruise control disengage when you hit your brakes?

I have no experience with the 4010 but it appears to be the same setup with my old 425. You actually pushed the accelerator in order to deactivate it. Not like a vehicle at all... no big deal, just had to know how it works.

Hmm, now that you mention it, I'm not sure. I've only used CC twice, and both times I just pushed gently on the "forward" pedal and the CC disengaged instantly. I'll have to try it out next time I crank her up.

Mine disengages when I hit the brake pedal.

Otherwise, I just nudge the HST pedal, and it pops off.

Mine's a 4010.

Test drove a Kubota 7500, and it came off with the brake pedal, too. Bad deal on it, because you can't use the turning brakes because of this.

I suspect the cruise control is only turned off if the correct brake pedal is pushed. Maybe your friend doesn't have the brake pedals locked together and has been hitting the wrong pedal? Haven't checked this or read the maintenance manual to know which pedal does this. Bet it's only either the right or left one that does it.

Tried this on my 4110 last night:

When the cruise control is engaged and you step on the forward pedal, the cruise control disengages.
When the cruise control is engaged and you step on both break pedals or the break pedals are locked togetter the cruise control disengages.

Now if your break pedals ARE NOT locked and you hit either one of the break pedals when the cruise control is engaged, the cruise control WILL NOT disengage! The tractor starts to turn instead! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

If I recall correctly, when I was perusing thru my 4210 manual, it said the CC would be disengaged when hitting the brakes, but ONLY if both brakes were connected. It's linked to the rht brake, so if the brakes are not connected together and you tap on the left brake only, it wont disengage the CC.

Thanks to all. I will let my brother-in-law in on the information I received.
