4010 hydralics

Does sound like a rockshaft leak if the 3 point hitch dropped within seconds of the high pressure system loosing pressure

I had that same thing happen on my 3010 last spring. Lost all hydraulics, 3 point, steering and brakes. Turned out it was the pump on the transmission. That one is not too expensive but it is hard to get to. There is a procedure in the service manual to test if that is the problem. Hope this helps!

I've been looking all morning - pretty sad, I know,

For where to install the A-R27173 Filter Element; Stroke Control Valve.

In the paper I got from John Deere there was an arrow pointing to behind the left front screen, by the air filter.

You show a 4020, but your topic is 4010. I had a JD 4010 diesel. At about 9 years and 660 hours, the Ujoint off the engine disentegrated. Nothing moves, but engine runs. I worry about the same Ujoint on my 2025R, as it's totally inaccessible like the one on the 4010 is.

jrsavoie is referring to a JD 4010 rowcrop tractor built from '60-'63 not a 4010 CUT built from 03-'05. There's no u-joint on a 4010 RC

I will never understaND why John Deere recycles model numbers. I've had 3 John deere 400's and they looked nothing alike

Your screen goes in the hydraulic pump endcap. On the bottom of the pump you will see two large plugs. The one without the adjusting screw in the middle is the one with the screen. remove plug #21 and spring #18, some shims#19 and guide #15 should come out. Then packings 15 usually stay in the housing and will hold the screen in the housing. Use a pick to pull out the lower seal and screen should come out. The other parts above the screen should stay in place.

What other parts should I have on hand before doing this? I am guessing the seal at the least.
