Tractor
Branson (kukje) 4020, 40hp turbo
I am new to this forum. Just bought a 4020 Branson but in a painful wait period until it gets delivered. Have enjoyed this site. My wife says I spend my spare time looking at tractor ****. I have been waiting for more than 20 yrs to buy a 4wd tractor and only dreamed of green. Guess I wised up and went with IU RED. I work at Cummins Inc....so have heard about Kukje. I figure if our engineers like the engine, it must be a good one....even if most of these guys probably went to Purdue. Happy plowing.

OK, no tractor in my driveway today. So far I have 2 mugs, a branson hat, and an xmas card from the dealer....but no tractor yet. Will it come tomorrow? If not, I will give out the dealer's email address and the people on this forum can help me out by sending him a message....like "poor pete needs his tractor....please get poor pete his tractor.....". Stay tuned....

Birds of a feather , grayson1. Did you get much sleep last night? Did you wake up from dreaming about playing in the dirt. How much rototilling did you do in your sleep? Do all tractor lovers go thru this same agony? Today will be a good day! Happy plowing.

Well, the wait is over. My tractor was delivered late today during a snow storm...too late to have any serious time to play with my new red toy. See the attached picture of a happy camper.

It was a beautiful, sunny , but cold day here. I had a few hours to play. I got familiar with the backhoe, and made sure all fittings greased. Also mounted some halogen lights that the dealer gave me...put them on the ROP. Nothing fancy , but functional....one facing forward, one backwards. Got to try them out after dark. They will help a lot. Also put my new buddy to bed in his temporary shelter. I got a cheap instant garage... it should work until I can build a pole barn this summer. Not made for snow though....so I am reinforcing the top and sides with some PVC pipe. Will have to do some serious anchoring tomorrow , else it might blow into the next county.

Franz, I don't think you will go wrong with this tractor. Will post more pictures tomorrow.

Pete, nice unit. I took delivery of my 3520 yesterday, also delivered during a snow storm. It broke my heart seeing all that salt and road muck hitting my new red machine. Oh well, I am sure it will see worse. All I had time to do was store it in my garage. I might try it out tomorrow. Keep us posted on how well you like the unit.
thanks,
Grayson1

Grayson1, I was lucky in that the dealer didn't have to drive on interstate, but came to my place on some country roads so didn't get a bunch of salt on it. We have the same tractor except the 4020 has a turbo. I debated about that, as I figure that is just one more thing to go wrong...was it worth the little extra money for 5 HP? The next jump up to 45 was significantly more for the yanmar...so I went with 4020. My dealer is selling a lot of the 3520. The tractor seemed larger than I thought on the first day here, but after being around it some...seems more comfortable. I drove a 1956 Ford 641 for many years...so having 4wd, and loader is totally foreign to me. I live in hill country. In years past, I've slid down hills backwards with the old ford...that just didn't feel too good. My brother has a 3510 series tractor, and has 40 acres of woods. He buried a trailer up to it's axle...loaded down with wood, and the 3510 walked it right out of there like it was nothing. This is on clay ground no less. I think you will love your new tractor. Good luck, and Happy plowing.

Pete, I tried my tractor out for a few hours today. I am happy to report that I really like the tractor! It will be a huge asset on my 95 acres.

Like you, I debated over the 3520 or 4020. I had a hard time justifying the 4520. My dealer was about $700 more for the 4020, but if it were around $400, I would have probably bought the 5 extra hp. I too was sceptical about a turbo charger. I was concerned about reliability, but I believe turbos have come a long way.

I only get to use mine on the weekends, so I am looking forward to more time in the saddle.
Regards,
Grayson1

Franz, the backhoe is the B7620 Branson, made by Ameriquip. It is 7 1/2 feet. Is that just a toy... I don't know, but I am sure going to have fun with it. Well, kept the tractor clean 1 day, then decided it was time to get dirty. Although conditions not ideal for digging in the dirt today, I managed to start work on an area that I am leveling off for a utility shed. First order of business....to dig out a couple of small stumps. My wife was right, it will start looking like we have big moles around here. Let's see now, what RPM should I be running at...get that manual out again!

Grayson1, with 95 acres....you're going to have a lot of fun with that machine. Since you got a tiller, I assume you do some gardening. That piece of equipment is on my list also, but for now my neighbor helps me out with his. I am attaching a picture showing the turbo. Can't see it very well, it is in the upper center of the attached picture...has a shroud around it. Other than that, our tractors are the same. I just make sure I give it plenty of warm up , and cool down time.... Maybe it wil last a long time.

Hmmm....why does that turbo have a shroud around it? Heat protection for the hood? ...or to keep parts from flying? Well, attached is a picture of my buddy getting tucked into his new temporary bed for the night. Picture taken at night, thanks to new halogen lights.

Pete, I will be using my tiller to create some food plots for game. I have about 15 acres of tillable area. I doubt I will till that much, but I do plan to create several smaller food plots.

Your tractor looks good! I almost went with the 4020. The turbo looks simple enough and I doubt you will have any trouble with it. That extra five hp may come in handy once in a while.

Pete, I thought that In. was flat? I've heard of a city on a hill, but how can you see my place from there? lol....... No its not just a toy. I have done some pretty serious work with some small equipment before. Big is good for large jobs, clearing, doing work away from the hazards of doing damage to existing structures and a good operator can almost put a large piece through the eye of a needle....almost. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif but many not all large equipment owner/ operators have confessed to a desire for a smaller piece. I hesitate to share this today, since the paperwork is final. However, I have committed to purchasing the 3520 fel with 7620 hoe yesterday. I'm excited. I'll go in monday to complete the paperwork. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Franz, congrats. That is one beefy little machine. I still marvel over mine. I had to go out this morning and figure out what I could do with it. So I moved some roots, etc and put them on a brush pile. Had to do a little fel work. As for Indiana, the glaciers came down across the state and stopped at the northern edge of our county. Yes, I am a hillbilly....unless my wife's fears come true and I turn us into flatlanders with that new backhoe.
