Hey guys, just looking to see if anyone else has a sloppy loader joy stick? My tractor is new with only 50hrs. Had this issue since it was new. I Had a service guy from my dealer out to my house last week for a warranty thing. I asked him about the joy stick issue. He says they are all like this and that there isnt anything they can do to make it tighter.

I have since examined it and didnt see anything that i could tighten up in the joy stick assembly.

Its not the end of the world with the sloppy joy stick as my jd300 backhoe has huge slop in the levers lol. I just dont like it cuz its hard to be presise and smooth when the actuation points are so far away.

Have any of you guys had this issue and found a solution?

I've often found it to have more travel before performing functions than desired as well, although it doesn't seem to affect my precision any, only my speed when being precise because so much time is taken feathering through the free travel of the joystick. I've found that higher RPMs help. The audible cues stand out more (the higher pressures make more noise as the valve begins to divert the flow to perform a function), and the range of feathering is smoother.

There is an adjuster on the cables from the control, where it connects to the valve. The manual doesn't state any adjustment procedures, but I'm sure you would just take all the slack out of the cables as is possible so they operate the spools with as little play as possible.

I tried adjusting both those spots and it did nothing for the cable slack.

When adjusting the 2 tubes, all it would do is just bring he lever further forward or back. It had the same affect for the side to side motion as well.

Yes there will always be play in the lever mechanism, but the additional inch of play in the cable shouldn't be there.

That's unfortunate. I doubt there is any sort of modification that would be done easily. I've just practiced my way around it and have became fairly efficient with it. I'm at a bit over 300 hours with much of it being loader work.

Yea its weird how you can't get the slack out of the cable.

The only thing left to do is try to disassemble the joy stick and see if washers or something could be added to where the cables slide into the joy stick body.

Mine was the same way. Now I have 700 hrs on my tractor. (Not sure how many on the loader as I bought the tractor used). The left right on my loader handle finally went belly up. They put a new cables on mine and I can't believe the difference. It is most definitely not sloppy now. Of course, at only 50 hrs it shouldn't be that way either.

there are two speeds on your loader joystick.. adjust them with the collar below the handle.

should explain it in the manual

Ive red this before on the forum. When i get home i will take a look in the manual. I thought i looked once already for this setting, but found nothing. Also, when i took the rubber boot off the joy stick, i didnt see anywhere that adjusting that nob, would have an affect on the loader operation other than being pushed down to lock the joy stick from being used. Maybe im missing something?

I don't know of any adjustment of speed either. Far as I can tell all that ring does is lock the loader.
