So it seems my regen is not operating right. My dash says to run at 1500rpm. First time I let it run a 1500rpm for 3 hrs and it didn't drop 1%. Had a tech stop out and after 4 hrs of run time was at 13%. Normally its been done around every 15 hrs. Starts itself on 78% . Takes 4 hrs to get down to 15% idling at 2300rpm. The last 2 regens have started approx 78% but the regen icon shuts off at 67 and 63% and that was 4.5 hrs between regens. Yes I not running the tractor at 2500 -3000rpm when using it . Never seen a tractor drink so much fuel at high rpms before. Im ok with regen more often but thinking it should clean more then 63% left. Any pointers will be helpfully.

Regen is usually done with higher RPM's to create heat to burn off the soot. I found your description to run at 1500 rpm to regen peculiar? It also helps to keep your tractor above 2k rpms when working it being loader work or other non pto work. With PTO work off course I recommend work engine at PTO speed.

If you can still drive the tractor during regen, I would go for a drive with it in the highest gear. That should put a decent load on the engine to increase heat and burn the soot in the filter better.

What I find somewhat interesting about new tractors and this 'regeneration' stuff is... Diesels by their very nature are low speed high torque engines so having to run them at high RPM to initiate the regeneration process seems to me to be counter productive, but then what do I know. It appears to me to just be a waste of fuel and added expense. I'm sure Rudolph Diesel would be unpleasantly amazed if he was alive today.

Glad I don't have those issues and I'd never own a machine that required that regimen anyway.

One thing about this forum and that is, there appears to be quite a few owners of the emissions compliant machines that are having issues with them.

Yup, I agree it doesn't make sense to me neither, never did.

Which would annoy me to no end if a system that wasn't needed for a machine to run was constantly breaking down and causing me down time plus added expense.

Appears to me that most problems are user errors.
I'm not saying that there is everything OK with the tractor. Yes, it can fail as well.

I'd say most issues fall back on the end user. My issue with compliant units is, some 'Joe College' at the EPA initiated all of this and probably never even ran one...

It's easy to compel emissions mandates when the 'mandater' is an armchair person.

In my opinion, a lot of people buy way too much of a tractor, HP wise, then they don't really have the work load to keep these emissions systems happy.

In reality you can do a 'parked regen'. So long as the SCR temp is sufficient, the regen will take place. Far as 'too big' that is debatable. The shop had a large Kubota in (I believe 120 horses) that the owner farmed with and kept ignoring the regen and it finally puked and no, Kubota denied the warranty.

There is definitely some truth to it.

And running the engine on higher rpms doesn't mean that the engine is under load. It might help a bit.
