MF 1758, LS R4047, FARMALL SMD, INTERNATIONAL 350, INTERNATIONAL 650
Have a 4052M and would like a little more power. Looking at the parts diagram for both, the injection pump, nozzels, and turbo are the same part numbers for both the 4066 and 4052. Question is where are they getting the extra 14 HP?

The power comes from the diesel fuel. :rolleyes:

....most likely they just pump more of it....

... with the same pump (i.e "turn up the pump")
...through same injectors...turbo and intake? Ok..

You could probably turn your 4052 into a 4066 if you don't mind voiding the warrantee.

One of the biggest differences is the 4066 has a intercooler and that's probably where a lot of it is coming from. They could also be running more boost from the turbo.

I would say the biggest difference is in the ECU/ECM software.

You mean in the way the air and fuel ratio is tuned for that model?
I'm referring to fuel mapping, they could turn up rail pressure, increase injector duration, add an injection event, change injection timing, etc. Basically to make the horsepower they need more fuel and the components that are computer controlled are used to increase the fuel rate. Could be one item or a combination of different strategies. That small intercooler would probably be enough to change air density to burn the extra fuel but probably isn't that significant.

So you are saying that the intercooler is not there to make the engine run cooler but to just make the air more dense for combustion?

My neighbor loves his "Lamborghini" JD 4052. Maybe you just need to rev it a little more. So many of you seem to want to run your engines just above idle speed.

Correct. It's purpose is to cool the air after the turbo before it goes into the intake.
