I noticed yesterday that when lowering my bucket on the 410 loader (JD4100) the left had tower flexes from side to side when the bucket hits the floor and I can see some movement at the attachment point in front of my left foot. The right side is solid as a rock. Is there an adjustment to tighten this up?

Is the front attachment plate that locks the loader into place to the front weight bracket tight when locked? Look for the proper adjustment of the lock arm in your loader owners' manual.

Check the loader's mounting frame hardware.

The operator's manual for the 410/420 loaders recommends checking these bolts for tightness after the first 10 hrs of use and every 50 hrs thereafter.

The torque values for the different fasteners are given in the manual.

HarryW ,

I have a 4110 with a 410 loader that I noticed the same problem with. I have checked all the bolts for correct torque , I even removed the FEL from the tractor and attached it again thinking it was not sitting correctly on the lower bracket. No luck. I have only 17 hrs in it and if my memory is correct I did not notice this when I took delivery ..... Strange

I am sure someone with help us get to the bottom on this ...

Harryw, I have the same tractor and had the same problem. I'm with DFB - I found a bolt in the driveway early on and put it in my junk drawer. A few weeks later I found another one along with a nut out back where I'm clearing. It had to be from the tractor! Duh! One side of the mounting bracket to frame under my feet was very loose hanging with one bolt. It's worth checking periodically as the manual suggests.

Assuming the bolts are tight then there could be another problem. Perhaps remove the loader and then the mounting bracket and see if maybe there is a weld fillet, spatter or similar that may be preventing the bracket from sitting flush to the tractor frame and fully torquing down. Also is there a possibility that the bolts could be shanking out, running out of threads before there is sufficient clamping force, I found a condition similar to this on my Kubota, not on the loader bracket but on the top bracket for the three point. Y'all might also consider fabricating a cross brace similar to that used on some Kubotas. Also, look for a broken or incomplete weld or missing hardware where the frame cross member that supports the frame where the loader bracket mounts. Anyway, just some thoughts. J

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I did do a quick check of all of the mounting hardware, but I hadn't considered looking at the welds. My tractor has 355 hours on it, all with the loader attached. Tomorrow, I will remove the loader and inspect all of the attachment points. I'll post what I find on Monday.

I have also noticed this on my 410 loader, everything seems to be as it should be. I do not believe i am doing anything with it that I shouldn't.

Harry, I have a 410 loader on my 4100. It doesn't flex as you describe. Something isn't right.

I have a 70 loader on my 755. Mine used to flex also. How i solved this is at the front of the loader frame, there is/was 4 bolt holes. i fabricated with some angleiron, a brace to go across the front of the tractor and bolt into these holes. Stiffened up the loader tremendously! As a bonus , this brace I made , was big enogh and strong enough to mount a winch to it. Have used the winch to pull myself out of the ditch in the snow a couple of times now. (Ya i got to close to the edge of the road when I was backblading snow and slide away i did! Had to remove the blade , find something to anchor to on opposite side of road and pull. NOBODY say nothin about this! :)
