4100 w/ 410 FEL - how do I "float"

Re: 4100 w/ 410 FEL - how do I \"float\"

I think the detent is slightly to the right AFTER you get the lever full forward. This is why I said to push slightly to the right. I do it so automatically any more that I don't remember exactly what I do. Think there is a slight movement to the right at the full forward position that it goes into.

Re: 4100 w/ 410 FEL - how do I \"float\"

Here is some info. on what I had with my 4010 (FWIW);

Attempting to locate the detent after delivery proved impossible, and there was no indication of entering "regen" on the dump cycle.

After reviewing the manual, several times, and researching the web, I made small adjustments to the linkages associated with the valve.

The first set of adjustments revealed the float detent, but it was "hard" to enter detent position, required a forceful and quick application, and still no evidence of the "regen."

The second set revealed a smoother entry into float with positive locking of the stick in the forward position and obvious "feeling" of entering "regen."

I guess the linkages were just a little out of adjustment from the factory.

Re: 4100 w/ 410 FEL - how do I \"float\"

Aaaah, I found it. It's a fairly forceful "straight ahead" push of the joystick lever. It's very obvious when you have reached it. Take the lever to what seems like the full fwd position and then press it forward another "notch". You'll clearly feel it lock into "float" and the joystick will remain there until you pull it back. It is very apparent once you've done it. The manual does a poor job of explaining IMO. My guess is my 4100 had rarely, if ever, been put into float, so maybe it was a bit harder to push it forward to that extreme. The fwd and reverse travel of the joystick are about the same. Float is well ahead of the forward position.

Re: 4100 w/ 410 FEL - how do I \"float\"

colorado,

Glad you found the "float" position. Once found, it is pretty identifiable and, comes in handy for some smoothing/levelling. Also, as I said, it is very useful for relieving the hydraulic pressure in the lines if you set everything to "park" position, lift the FEL a couple of feet, turn off the motor, and then snap the SCV into the "float".

As for any "quick dump" or "detent" slightly to the right, I tried that repeatedly today. Unless my 410 is not adjusted correctly, there is no "quick dump" or "detent" to the right, with the SCV, only the forward "float".

Re: 4100 w/ 410 FEL - how do I \"float\"

.........the quick dump seems to be propaganda to me /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I am sure someone will disagree, but it is not a detent per se, it's simply when you move the SCV lever to the right rapidly it is supposed to do a "quick dump". Maybe one of the more knowledeable guru(s) could pipe-in......

Re: 4100 w/ 410 FEL - how do I \"float\"

it would be a 'hidden' feature as I've not seen it mentioned in any manuals.. 4100 nor 410

Re: 4100 w/ 410 FEL - how do I \"float\"

....it exists....if you do a search on this forum / board, you will find discussions on it. The only reason I knew about it is my sales person explained it to me several years ago after I bought the tractor.

Re: 4100 w/ 410 FEL - how do I \"float\"

The fast dump is really called "REGEN", short for a regenerative hydraulic circuit. There is NO DETENT for it, it is just a matter of how far you push the stick to the right.
There is however a lockout for it to keep the stick from going over into the REGEN position, it is used when a front hydraulic blade or a snowblower with hydraulically controlled chute rotation are used.

There has been lots of discussion on this in all the forums, and picture of the lockout posted in this forum in the past.

Do a search for "REGEN" for lots of reading, just remember to set the date range to "ALL POSTS", as it defualts to 1 week.
