4105 vs 4120 opinions?

Unless I'm mistaken, the 4105 does not have any installed rear SCV's. This may or may not be an issue for future uses.

That's why I said above:

First, you can add a extra remote to that machine, probably not with JD parts/kits, but it IS certainly possible.

There is a PB kit available, and with that you can add as many remotes as you want.

My biggest reason not to consider the 4105 over the 4120 is that the 4105 does not have a foldable ROPS. By the time you figure in building a whole new equipment storage building with a 9-10' high door, you have more than paid for the 4120 with foldable ROPS.

Otherwise, the 4105 will do everything "I" need it to for less money than the 4120. FEL, and any rear mounted 3ph implement that I intend on using.

It's really going to strap me financially, but I'm starting to feel like the extra money would be well spent on the 4120?

The Markham grapple I reference earlier weighs in at about 400lbs, not that much more than the bucket. There are PLENTY of people using them successfully on even smaller machines than the 4105.

The OP can buy a lot of implements with the 4K he would save.

I am sure there are, I was simply showing that with the added weight not to rely to much on printed specs. There is approx 700# capacity difference between loaders the hd 73" bucket weighs 280#'s (std bucket nla). If OP is just looking to do twigs, etc then it is fine. Beyond that if they can swing it a turbocharged Deere engine vs a turbo Yanmar engine along with other things like planetary drives etc these are just 2 VERY diff tractors.

I think you will be very happy with a 4120. That was the first new tractor we had on this farm (4 years ago) since the JD M my grandad bought back in 1950. the 4120 has not given me any trouble yet, and I expect it to still be going strong after 60 years just like the old M.

I agree with bpsooner's above post, get the 4120 or larger tractor and buy the add on implements over time. In the long run you will be much happier with the 4x20 series.

That's what I done and have been glad I did. I started out looking at the 3038e, moved up to the 4105 and settled on the 4320. The price difference between the 4105 and the 4320 was only $1500 at my dealer.

I have not regretted the extra horsepower.

All the more reason to find a good used 4120. If you need the finnancing to make it happen it would still be cheaper to pay a bank a few % vs. buying a new unit with all those implements. Get a basic used package to get you started and add what extras you need over time.

I recently traded my 3320 for a 4320. The 4320 has about 5 more hp than the 4120 and 15 more HP than the 3320. While I liked the 3320 (33/25hp, same FEL as the 4105), the 4320 is a whole different animal. There is no replacement for extra HP. Also, the few comforts on the xx20 series are worth it in my opinion.

First, please stop typing in all caps, it makes it very hard to read and is considered YELLING

I do not believe JD offers a 3rd SCV for this machine (maybe they will in the future), but they do have the Power Beyond kit for the backhoe option, and with that you could add your own valve.
