I got my 4110 back today from the shop. The problem with the 4WD was the two bolts that are rear of the front axle came out and allowed the drive shaft to shift out of the coupling. It stripped the splines on the shaft and coupling. The only thing holding the front axle under the tractor was the front bolts and the shaft. The shaft was snug enough to make the front wheels turn without a load, but would not pull. The dealer installed the new shaft and coupling and replaced the bolts. The holes were threaded and this time he used longer bolts that extended through the holes and put locking nuts on the top side. The shaft and coupling cost me $100.00 plus labor. Not to bad since this is the only problem I have ever had with the tractor. So If you have a 4110 you might want to check the bolts under the front axle. I must say that I was impressed with the service and the part availiblity. It was only in the shop for less than a week.

Jim Bob, what is the easiest way to find and access the bolts. It sounds like something that may be a good preventative maintenance check.

If you look up under the tractor the 2 bolts are right there in plain sight. Yes it is a good idea to check them.

After reading about this problem the other day I looked under my 4110 for the heck of it. The bolts on mine have metal tab washers under them from the factory - where you bend the tab up against one of the flats on the hex head - virtually impossible for them to come loose. My tractor was built in 2001. Maybe they quit using them since.

Yep maybe they quit using the washers or somebody forgot. Mine is an 03.
I use my 4WD alot because of the front end loader. But It is worth anyone checking the bolts. You have two in front of the axle and two behind the axle where the drive shaft goes through. I still LOVE my tractor!
