Finally got around to these. Here's the finished product. Wound up attaching them to the Speedco. Spent 4 hours skidding trees today. Box location was pretty handy to stage chains. More details with 2nd picture.

Here's the welding table shot. Used 1/2 inch threaded rod. I carry a 16' 5/16, 16' 1/4 and 8' 1/4 chain. 4x4s bolted to the PTO side of hitch have a few inches clearance when hitch is fully raised. Also enough space for PTO shaft. JD green paint courtesy of Fleet Farm (or is it Farm & Fleet???)

al3,

Nice job. Now I FINALLY know where to weld chain boxes and small tool boxes...on the I-Match! Never really thought of that but it's the most out of the way and at the same time accessible!...Great idea and nice job. Now I just have to get a welder and learn to weld /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Thanks,

Tom

Forgot to include box dimensions. Square ones are 4x4 od, 12 inches long. Rectangular side boxes are 8 x 3 by 10 inches long. Square ones easily hold the ¼ 16foot chain, rectangular ones just hold the 5/16 16 footer. There’s space for 2 ½ inches longer side boxes. I scrounged a piece of 8x6 box steel and cut in half (and welded on a back) to make the rectangular ones----it happened to be 10 inches long. Attaching holes were drilled at 5/8s so my welds could be a bit sloppy.

Like using metal tubing for chain boxes. Have 5” &6” x 30” metal tubes bolted or welded to loader up rights for chain, chainsaw, and long handle tools. Hook for 5 gallon bucket for smaller tools.
