Hello folks...sure could use some help. My JD 4110 only shows battery voltage while running. Disconnected the plug going to the Alternator (two wires) and had no voltage to either. Checked my fuses and all are ok. I have a schematic that shows electrical power leaves the key switch and should go to the alternator field plug mentioned above. Also, my battery discharge light and fuel gauge is inoperative and seams to get their power from the same connection just downstream of the F2 Fuse.

If I'm on the right track, I need to get to the where the 402 red wire and the 584 red wire come together. Is this a plug and if so can someone tell me where it is located on the tractor?

Interestingly I can bang on the side of my instrument panel near the fuel gauge and make it read from empty to 1/2 full which is the correct reading but it drops back down to empty. Thanks for any help or input...it is appreciated very much.

What was the solution to the problem two years ago when you posted a question about the JD 4110?
http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/parts-repairs/152285-jd-4110-engine-stopped.html

Would be nice to have feedback on helping to solve problems, even for new readers looking for information after searching. (hint, hint). :)

What wiring schematics are you using? Post a pic please of the wires you refer to.
This diagram shows the 402 red wire from F4 fuse to K3 safety relay. Is this the wire you are talking about?

You are correct...I should have posted the results of my first post a couple of years ago. It turned out to be my neutral safety switch. While using my rotary cutter some brush knocked the single wire connector off the switch and shut me down.

After viewing the schematic you sent vs the one given to me by my dealer (attached) I now think I have the wrong schematic for my 4110. My schematic shows a alternator that I believe has a internal rectifier/diode plate and yours shows the rectifier to be external of the alternator. This of course would change my troubleshooting method.

With that being said it would seam as a first step I should measure for AC voltage coming out of the alternator. Can I do this by measuring across the alternator outputs?

Maybe these two diagnostic pics will help to sort through what you can do. For the 4110:
(if other pages referenced are needed, shout back)

Thanks for the data...it will be the weekend before I can troubleshoot the tractor. I will let you know how it goes.
