I am considering a 4110. Do you mow with the deck on the ground or, can you let it hang? This leads to my next question, when raising the deck up and down, does it raise straight up? or does the rear raise slightly sooner than the front? Which leads to my third question, if the deck raises sooner in the rear, then it must not hang level. This would not be good for mowing if the deck hangs higher in the rear. I am also looking at the 2210, but would like a larger tire tractor becuase my land is rough. thanks guys!

The 4110 mows with the deck suspended, as does the 2210. When set up properly, the guide wheels are set at about 1/2" above the ground and contact the ground only when encountering uneven terrain. The deck raises level as far as I can tell. As with all mid-mount mowers, the deck should be set so that the leading edge of the mower blades cut about 1/8" to 1/4" lower (shorter) than the trailing edge. Not all dealers set up a MMM correctly. Once set correctly the deck will always return to the proper mowing angle and position.

Both the 4110 and 2210 are awesome mowers--I've owned both. The 2210 has some advantages in having the height control knob on the floor of the operator's station. The 62C cuts very nicely and has deeper airflow than the 60" used by the 4110/4115. However, the 60" 4110/4115 deck is a much heavier-duty deck in all aspects including the guide wheels and guage of sheet metal all around--no plastic. The 62C deck weighs in around 200 pounds and the 60" deck for the 4110/4115 weighs in around 300 pounds. As I mentioned, both produce a beautiful, professional cut.

My Father-in-Law has a new 4115 with the 72" deck, and in the manual it says to use it with the wheels slightly off the ground as a floating deck. The deck seems to lift pretty level due to the linkage design so I don't think that should be an issue for you.

What about the 54" deck, how does it compare to the 60" for the 4110. I figure for every 10 passes, I would need to make another. Does it mow as nice as the 60", is it of the same design? thanks, this site is great, I need to make a choice, it is hard.!

Not sure about the 54" deck, but I suspect similar performance to the 60". I just got my 4110 with a 60" deck and I am glad I went with the 60" deck. A 54" deck would barely be wider then my tracks (turf tires) making it more difficult to cut up close without the tractor getting in the way. Take it for what it worth since I am fairly new to this setup.

I have a 4115 with a 60" deck. I use it to mow my 4 acre yard and 7 acres of pasture. What a great mower it is. It is a bit heavier than the 54" but no matter what, the 4110 and the 2210 are superperb at mowing. The only reason I bought the 60" besides a bit more money for the 72" deck and the space between the rock wall and the porch deck. More riding time is more fun time.

I had considered the 54 as well to try and save a few bucks and am glad I was talked into the 60. While I use it to mow an open field area I also use it to mow the lawn around the house and the 60 makes it so much easier for getting close to the edges. I have a few extra mowers and kept them primarily because I did not think I could get close enough to mow around the trees and planters but I found that the 4110 with the 60 is about all I need.

Forgot to mention....

If you get the 4110 and the MMM don't forget to have them install the add-on kit to lock the deck in the up position. This may not be an issue if you plan on removing the deck in between mowing. When you raise or lower your MMM is also lifts and lower the rear attachments. I learned this the hard way in that I am always pulling a trailer or BB. It is impossible to use a rear implement unless you don't mind you mower dragging on the ground. I think it around 90.00..

I could not be happier with my choice on tractor or mower but with any such purchase there is a learning curve.

I have a 4100 with the 60" deck and even though I have less than an acre to cut, it works great for even that small area.

Takes about 20 minutes! The hydro drive makes it plenty quick to maneuver.

I have the tractor for other reasons, and I thought that it would be overkill for mowing, but I have since gotten rid of my smaller riding mower and have not started my push mower in a couple of years.

All you will need besides the tractor and MMM is a good string trimmer which you will likely need anyway.

The only thing I worry about is compaction. The 2210 might be a better choice for a mostly-mowing machine due to the lower weight.

Hello,

I agree that 41xx are great mowing machines! I have a 4110 with the 60" MMM and it is the perfect machine for the mowing I have to do.
Another point about the 41xx series that wasen't brought up is the ride that you get! It is 10 times more comfortable riding on a 41xx than a smaller lawn tractor probably because of the bigger tires! My land is pretty rough so this is great for me! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
