4110 No PTO

Background:
4110 HST has been in storage for a year. Part of the time it was outside but covered. Squirrels at the positive cable from starter to battery. I replaced that. Could find no other damage. Moved to to enclosed storage for the last 6 months and took it out today. It ran fine with the exception of the PTO would not operate the finish mower. When pulling the PTO switch out the lite came on in the panel, but PTO not turning. I took the mower off and had my wife sit on tractor to see if the spindle was moving. Not moving.

Any ideas?

Lets think something simple first...is the PTO selector lever fully engaged to the position you want? Have you tried to move it to see if another setting works ok. Ex. mid/rear/both

Thanks for your response.
I tried the other positions, Mid, Mid Rear and Rear. I could see if the Rear was spinning, but for obvious reasons I could not see if Mid was. I didn't hear it turning though.
After turning tractor off and disconnecting mower I tried to spin the PTO spline and it wouldn't turn when selected for rear. When putting selector in Mid only the rear spline would turn. All normal there.

Well the way book explains the operation, the pto input shaft is constantly turning. Release is by a pto clutch and held by the pto brake, controlled by the solenoid switch via the dash button and operate simultaneously for both pto's. Each pto position is engaged by a sliding collar controlled by the selector lever. If one end is working I would think the pto brake/clutch and solenoid switch all are operating ok. Book says mid pto turns counter clockwise when looking at it. Take a good look at the shift linkage also. The selector lever is just a pivot point coupled by a pinned linkage to another shaft located more forward on the transmission housing. I know this because found my selector lever froze up on me earlier this year and it wouldn't move from the rear pto setting at all. I had to remove it from where it was bolted to the tractor and soak it penetrating fluid for several days!
