4110 Shut Off and Now Won't Start

Makes sense that you are on the right track if you can find and check out the neutral switch.
Do you have the service tech manual?

I have the owners manual. I've been searching in it but it seems a bit long on pictures and short on specific info. I guess there's a real difference between a service tech and an owner's manual. So I guess I'll go exploring on the underside of the tractor.

I'd probably start tracing through the safety switch circuits. If you have the schematic, find the first one in the chain and use a test light to verify 12v at each subsequent point. If not you can pull each of the connectors apart and check that the switch is closing with a multimeter.

Also make sure the keyswitch is providing 12v when in the "crank" position.

On my 4300, the previous owner had a cab on it and wanted power to run an extra light or something so they jammed a wire with male spade terminal in the fuse block alongside one of the fuses. This in turn caused the fuse to fit loose when they removed the cab and the extra wire which prevents it from starting. Its unlikely you have a similar problem, but if the fuse block is down by your feet like on mine, it's possible you could have kicked it getting off and loosened a fuse. One of these days I will pull it out and fix it properly, but till then I just know to push the fuse back in from time to time. Poor man's theft deterrent ;)

Found this pic in the service tech manual (my 4300 manual had the 4110 too), and think it will help you find that switch.. looks to be left side under left foot rest or thereabouts as item P.

I added the wiring schematic that involves the wires to the S5 neutral switch, so you can see where they lead into the A1 control module that I believe is located near this switch.

Wow - thanks. More than I could have expected. A little late this evening but I will go out tomorrow and see if I can find the problem. Thanks so much.

Well - I found a connection that wasn't connected but I couldn't find what it might be connected to. In any case, it wouldn't turn over this afternoon so I have one more test -- will it turn over in the cool of the morning. But I fear anything more is beyond my skill level so a trip to the dealer could be in order. :(

If your tractor is in MD I could help you troubleshoot it if you want. I'm not far away in Pasadena. Reasonable rates ;)

The verdict is in. It is the safety cutoff module located under the seat. Appears that current goes in but doesn't come out. So they are replacing the module -- a simple task but a pretty expensive part. Also, having been five years since it went into the shop, it is a good time to get things checked over like the coolant, filters, oil, et al. It has really low hours but age has a way of degrading some things regardless of usage. Glad to be able to put this behind me and get back to moving stuff around on the property.

Thank you all for your comments and insights.
