4110 vs 4115 vs 4210 vs 4310

Sorry Glagen - I'm not a real good mechanic - fact is I'm a horrible mechanic. We do have some JD Mechanical Whiz Kids on here though who may be able to answer that.

For what it's worth, My opinion is this - I wouldn't let the snow blower drive your tractor purchase... sell it! Get the unit you want. If you're thinking 4x10 and a 47 or 48 BH then I'd think long and hard about it. In the long run the $$ diff will fade, but you'll be happy you got what you wanted. I never push my brand or model on anyone - but I can say without hesitation that I am thrilled with the 4310 and what that little beastie can do. I think I push mine beyond it's intended limits, and yet it hasn't let me down yet.

Certainly it's your call though - I wish you the best of luck whatever you get.

Me too! Me too! I wish I'dda said what steve did!

If I had a 4115, I think a 46 hoe makes sense. But to buy a setup, I still would et the midchassis...
YMMV!!

I'm with Steve. Don't build your next tractor around the old snow blower, sell it! Which ever tractor you buy, you'll have fun, I'm sure. Life could be a whole lot worse than getting to spend extra time on your tractor because you bought the smaller one. In the back of my mind I have this fear that I will one day run out of big projects, too soon, because I bought a bigger tractor than I set out yo buy!

Right about now is a dang'd good time to try to sell a snowblower for a small JD tractor... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Poor little 4110 -4115 they just arent getting the respect they deserve /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif these guys are work horses !! Its just not fair to compare them to a 4310 or 4410 - a giant in comparison /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Did mother nature invent snow that couldnt be handled by a 47" 2 stage mounted on a 4110 or 4115 ?? thats an awesome setup and quite capable to really handle anything I would think..

I would agree with that.

( Its just not fair to compare them to a 4310 or 4410 - a giant in comparison ) Funny - it's all how you look at it - I ended up with the 4310 because it would fit in my garage, and of course my wife thought it was "pretty". I always think of it as fairly small. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

For a 125' driveway, I would think a front-plow blade would be more than enough, especially on the larger tractor. Maybe you can trade-in the blower, get a cheaper front blade on the larger tractor and come out ahead on dollars vs. keeping the blower on a smaller tractor.

If you then later want to add the blower, it will go on the blade mount and you will not have wasted anything execpt the actual cost of the moldboard which I bet you may still find handy to have.

I have a 4100 with a 47" front blower and the 54" blade, and I never use the blower (watch the classifieds when the first snow falls). The 4wd and a front blade is quicker and I get less snow in the face.

The blade is also quicker to put on and off than the blower because there is no drive shaft to mess with and its lighter and easier to move around.

Nevermind, though - I just looked at the Deere website, and they don't list any fornt blades for the 4210... Something to ask the dealer about.

I considered buying the 4110-4115 set up with a front blower but decided I would rather keep the FEL on and put a blower on the back. I knew I would want the FEL to back drag from the garage or around the mailbox and switching would not be convenient. I have seen the 47" blowers bring very good money on ebay lately
