Happy to say that the issue has been resolved. When a buddy stopped by this morning, I had him pump the pump on top of the fuel filter while I cranked the engine and withing 10 seconds it coughed to life and has been running and starting fine ever since. One thing I've noticed during this episode is that the screw that acts as an air bleed on the fuel filter is made of plastic and it has become stripped (has to be my fault unless there are gremlins in my shed at night). I guess I'm a little surprised by the plastic. I'll replace it when I get a chance but it seems like a weak link.
