41XX and 46 Backhoe Subframe

Thanks for all the info. Looks like a very nice unit. One more question. How much time does it take to go from mower to backhoe, back to mower again. Is it an ordeal? Or easy/ quick enough that someone would actually get use out of both the mower and the backhoe? Can the backhoe mounting brackets remain installed, with the mmm also installed. Or doe you have to change out the brackets for each use?

Thanks so much for posting the pics. I can't wait to hear more of your experiences with the backhoe.

( I paid $5800 for the 46 backhoe, subframe and 9" bucket. Freight was an additinal $91. Power beyond kit was $200. Installation was going to be $480 )

I guess that pricing is to add to a tractor you already have? It would probably be better on a new setup. I paid $5K installed on a 47, as part of a package deal.

That 46 sure looks nice! Thanks for posting the pics...

Nice looking unit!!! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Those are great pictures too...
I have a 48 on my 4400. I have used my hoe a lot more than I thought I would. It takes a little time but these little hoes can accomplish a lot.
Having a hoe will really add resale value to your tractor should you ever want to sell it someday.
Congratulations on a sharp looking unit. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Looks very much like an evolution of the setup on my 855 / 7 hoe.
To answer the question about the time to switch.
Takes me about 5 minutes to take the mmmower off.
Takes about 3 minutes to put the loader on.
Takes less than 5 minutes to mount the backhoe - takes longer to line it up than mount it. I only install the 3pt arms in the spring and fall. Rarely use them in the summer. Add a minute to take them off if required.
All the brackets stay in place.

Not racing, I'm sure I could change over in 15 minutes. If I really wanted to push it, could probably do it in 5 minutes complete.

Regardless, I still always look at the tractor to see what's on it, and if the deck is on, I think twice about whether I really want to dig today. Or, if hoe is on, I mow with the garden tractor this week. Call me lazy! I tend to group my tasks by equipment!

Takes me about 20 minutes if everything goes smooth to change from backhoe to mowing. Most of the 3-point hitch has to be removed, along with the MMM supports. It's more involved than just removing the "quick-attach" MMM which comes off in just a few minutes. Still eaiser and certainly more fun than digging with a shovel.

I tape all the adjustments for the MMM mounting system so I won't have to re-level the MMM when I reinstall it.

Dollar for dollar the 47 or 48 is a better value and eaiser to removed and install if you have a tractor that can handle it.

Attached is a picture of everything that must be removed to install the backhoe.

Being a subframe unit, the 46 takes more room to store as the entire frame is removed with the backhoe. The only thing that remains is two small brackets on the loader mounting arms which do to interfere with MMM operation.

Attached is the hoe off the tractor.

which do to interfere with MMM operation

Looks like some grammar mistakes, so do these brackets(the ones on the loader frame brackets) get in the way of the MMM?

Goldfish,

Can you tell me what the length & height for storage purposes is (space is a premium) with everything attached
(FEL & BH) ?

Thanks !!

I just received from my dealer today a price of $5475 (+6% PA tax) for a 46 hoe installed on my 4110.
