i don't think the engine mfg. has anything to do with the poor routing of a fuel line.i never had a vapor lock problem, the only fuel issue was the garbage they dumped in at the factory.i had to take the carb. apart and clean it out.i'm sooooo glad i didn't have to pay $3500 more to get a kohler /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

The change of engine resulted in a redesign of the engine compartment which produced problems not previously encountered.

My steel gas tank also shed a considerable amount of garbage, but it was removed most effectively by the 1/4" clear fuel filter BEFORE it could reach the Kohler carb! After 200 hours I simply spent a few minutes installing a fresh filter. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I did not realize that Power Trac reduced the price of the PT-425 by $3500 when they issued the newer version with the Robin engine!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

FOURTEEN, I kinda' think /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif that johara1 was comparing the cost of a 422 (Robin) vs. the cost of your generation of the 425 (Kohler). PT certainly did NOT drop the price of the 425 when they switched over to Robin. In fact, as you may recall, they had a price jump in April-May '04 when that transition took place /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

True!

But we should keep our fruits straight! The 425 is an 'apple', and the 422 is an 'orange'!! However, while the Kohler 425 is a 'delicious' apple, evidence is mounting to suggest that the Robin 425 may well be a 'sour' apple!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I think once PT gets the fuel line size, routing and heat issues solved, the Robin powered unit will be top notch(even though I still love my Kohler).

At least we have Jack to give some help while they develop their following. Can't say that about any of the other engine manufacturers. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

the 422 i have is the old one, the same as the 425 in every way except the engine. the price is the diff. between mine and the new price of the 425. i can buy a lot of high torque wheel motors and an engine for the price diff. the problem is i can't find a thing wrong /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Reminds me of that famous phone conversation:

Ring -- Ring -- Ring , , , , , , , , , , , , , Ring -- Ring -- Ring

"Hello, Kohler Tech Support! Do you want faucets, engines, or toilets?"

"Hi, I have a Kohler CH-25 and it has started to..."

"I'll put you through to toilets."

Originally seen on LawnSite.com, I think.

"" Hi, I have a Kohler CH-25 and it has started to..." "I'll put you through to toilets. ""

Most likely a true story!! Due to the very rare 'engine problem' calls that Kohler gets, the poor operator may not have remembered how she handled one the last time it happened!!

The best warranty is the one I never use!!
Personally, I don't want to hear: "All our staff is helping other customers!" !! I don't want to be on a first name basis with a Service Manager! I don't want a personal reserved parking spot at the dealer or service center!! I don't want to watch most of my TV in a service center waiting room!! I don't want the service center telephone number to be on my 'speed dial'!! I don't want to be part of a 'new product test group'!! Just sell me a product that does its job so well that I never have to give it a second thought!!
