I do not think you are getting the "great deal" you think you are getting. Looks to me that the dealer boosted the list price up a little (it is actually closer to $16000) just to show you a high trade in price. Also their list price of $16300 discounted to $15000 is not much of a discount (not even 8%).
I think that you are too concerned with the trade in value of the machine that you have and the dealer has sensed this. He can show you just about any number that you would like to see. Ask him for a price with no trade and I will bet that he can beat the $15000 figure by at least another grand or so. Or have a friend of yours price the same equipment at this dealer as a clean no trade sale and see what price they are given.
Remember it's not the deal you get, it's the deal that you think you are getting, be careful.
Enjoy your 2210 it is a great machine. I own one.
Take care, Ken /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Ken,
Even at a discounted $14,000 for the package, clean deal, (including loading tires, setup, delivery etc), his trade diff is $4800, which would still mean an allowance of $9,200.
That's for a 5 yr old, 425, with 54" deck that sold new for what, $7500? plus the blower and cab.. I still think that is a GREAT DEAL! my impression of his machine is it's a $7-7500 retail machine, but then again, it's only MHO

He moved up 5 years, gained 4WD, 3PH, 540 PTO, ROPS, 3HP, DIESEL, and all new implements.

and it's finally snowing! time to finish putting the 212 together with the snowthrower!

You make a good point about "it's the deal that I think I'm getting" and I really and OK with this deal. My tractor is 5years old but it has worked perfectly for that 5 years. I think in my mind I wanted the 2210 regardless of the deal. I want 4wd, diesel(more Power) and the faster ground speeds. My 425 did OK forward but even after continual adjustment to the pedal for reverse I was always dissapointed. Looking at the specs for the 2210 it should be almost as fast in reverse as my 425 was forward. I just thought of another question, does the mid PTO on the 2210 shut off when you back up? I had to make a small change to my 425 to fix that. When trimming around my trees I needed to back up about a foot to adjust my cut and the PTO was stoping about 200 times per mow. I just coundn't take it anymore. I can't wait to get that 2210 into a nice snow drift. Looks like PA will be getting some big snow this weekend.. I hope. Later

On the 2210, there is no RIO system for the PTO. You will be able to reverse and go forward as often as you like!

Were you aware that on your 425 you could run the PTO in reverse also? By having the PTO switch pulled up into another position, you could transition to reverse without the PTO shutting off, once moving in reverse you can release the switch to it's normal "run" position and the PTO stays on without any problem. But, several people bypass that switch, as it is a bit cumbersome.

The 2210 will blow snow like an animal, and you should like the higher ground speed. The only thing you will be missing will be the cab, but you can save up for one of those again! I think you will cut your snowblowing time down with the 2210 anyways.

Enjoy it this weekend!

10+ years and 700+ hours with my 425 and I never knew the PTO was a two position switch. Never had any problems mowing in reverse, and didn't know about the switch. Oh well, go figure. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif I agree the 2210 will be great in the snow, though I don't think reverse is all that much faster than the 425. When does your new steed come in? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That RIO system was introduced somewhere about 1999,, my 1993 doesn't have the system either.

It's a pain in the butt, but with the RIO system it is possible to run the PTO in reverse, unlike some other manufacturers where you can't at all without modifying the system.

The theory behind it is that if you have to hold the switch to reverse the tractor, you have made the conscious decision to back up with the mower deck running, and therefore can't hold manufacturer liable if you run over somebody. (and believe me, that has happened)

My 2210 should be here in about 1 hour. I will be clearing the snow off my lawn to try it out. I hated the Rio for the reasons I discussed earlier. Do most of you 2210 owners blow snow in high range? Since this experience with a cab I don't think I will go there again. I'm I big guy, 6'4" 295 and it just got in my way. I usually just swing a leg up over the steering wheel to get off the 425 and with the cab I couldn't do that anymore. I have the camera ready. I will post some Pics later today. Do you guys like video? I'm a tech guy so the Videos will be comming soon. Hopefully from this weekends big storm. I hope we get 5 feet. I could make some cash real quick. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Well it arrived a little early. I just spent 1 hour of real fun snowblowing. I cleared My 9500sqft, neighbors 4500sqft, other neighbors 2000sqft, other neighbor 2500sqft and mothers 4000sqft. Loads of fun, lots of power. I need some more time on it to get more effecient in my operating. I'm not sorry to see the 425 go, this is much better. I had one problem, the impeller moved forward striking the blower housing and breaking a shear pin. The little locker key fell out in the snow but it was on top. Total time to get her back up and running less that 10 minutes. I will get the pics posted later tonight. Later
