It is time to rebuild the 430 loader on my wife's 4300HST 'garden' tractor. The loader holders are in serious need of repair/replacement. They had been repaired prior to my purchase of the tractor, and now I find cracking of the repair welds. The right side holder is also pretty badly bent.

I really like the cast steel holders on the 300cx. So much so that I purchased a pair for $200. The boomerang links look to be about the same. Looks like I only need the links with the joggle offset from the cyl end to the holder. Interesting that the late model 430 has a similar holder setup to the 300cx. But the links for the 430 are ~$60, while the 300cx links are $28 and $38. The 300cx uses proprietary link pins ($50 ea). I have the tools to fabricate pins and make just about anything (except castings). Can anyone confirm if the links have similar geometry with the only difference being the link pin structure? It is interesting that the w49664 outer link with the offset bore for the pin head is $10 more than the w49716 inner link with straight bored pin holes. Since JD casts the p/n into their castings, doubt these are the same casting with different finish machining.

I purchased the 300cx holders because it would take more time to engineer and fabricate a weldment clone of the 300cx casting than the cost of the ones i purchased. I will add a similar stiffener flange to the 430's plate steel outer boomerang link. I will post pics of the progress once parts arrive.

Wow! What is that loader used for? I have the same (430 on 4300) and don't see anything like the bending you have in your pics. Didn't think I babied mine either. Just curious...

It was that way when i bought it in 2016. It had a rough life prior to me. I also need to weld up the rear mounts to tighten it up.

I believe that if you loosen the bolts holding the rear mounts to the frame the mount can be rotated to tighten it up. I'm not 100% sure about that but you can check it out easy enough.

Thanks, but there is significant wear on both the tractor mount and the loader frame end. I plan to build up tractor mount with weld and machine flat.

I would prefer to find a 300cx from salvage, but the last one i saw at auction went too high for my budget. Will try this repair, and keep watching the auctions.

I copied to repairs forum. Seemed like a better place for this thread. Admin, feel free to delete this thread here.
