430 Case (DB) rear wheel lock-up

I have a case 430, that sat for about 5 months. when I tried to move it the right rear wheel wouldn't turn. Even on towing it stays put. there is a tiny amount of free play front to back when moving it but thaat's all. It wasn't parked with the brake on so I doubt that it is a siezed brake. a friend of mine has the same tractor and his does something similar but it always comes free. Is this a common complaint, and how do i resolve it?

The only thought that comes to my mind is maybe the clutch plate is stuck to the flywheel. Happened to mine one time. I shifted into the lowest gear and fired it up. Of course it started moving, so make sure you have somewhere to go if it does. Then I ran it into the nearest convenient obstacle, over and over. It eventually broke loose.

I agree with Marlow, I had the same thing happen to an old Oliver, I pushed in the clutch put it in gear and hit the starter and the tractor started to move. I ran it into a large tree several times as well, the clutch eventually broke loose.

It isn't the clutch. Sounds like water in the outboard final drive that has frozen. Or is it in a nice, warm barn?

Was the braked locked while it was sitting all that time? Sometimes brake linkage will stick, or the shoes "freeze" to the drums, or a dozen other things. Gonna have to figure out FOR SURE it's the brake stuck, then go to work on that. Once you're sure it isn't a rear end/final drive full of ice, try pulling it forward or reverse. Adjust the brake as loose as it will go. From there, it get's a little more involved.
