430 loader with a loose bucket

just bought a new 4410 with a 430 loader.i noticed that there is alot of play in the upper control links at the curl cylinders.when you raise the loader and make an abrupt stop the bucket will even flop around.the dealer says this is normal.my other loaders never did this.it's like worn out pins&bushings.anyone else noticed this problem?i would think that this condition will cause those links to prematurely wear out with that much slop in it.any ideas guys ?????

I suspect you got the quick attach bucket. I've the same thing on my 419 loader.
I did notice this bucket is "looser" then the fixed bucket I had on the #60 loader on my old 670.
I think this is due to the quick attach pins having more clearance (for easier installation and removal) then pins designed for a permanent installation.
You could go to your dealer and check out one of the FEL equipped tractors on the lot for comparison, although I don't consider it necessary.

I bought my tractor used and my 420 loader bucket does the same thing. After I greased everything this spring I could grab the bucket to rock it back and forth and hear the grease moving. I'm thinking that in my case it's probably a lot of wear since I leave my loader and bucket on all the time and they get a lot of bouncing around when I'm mowing, etc.

Are there any other new ones around you can check and compare? That's about the only thing I can suggest.

My 430 is 3 years old, but very few hours, it does not have any play in the bucket.

I have the 430 FEL and do not have any appreciable play in the bucket or the forks, using the quick attach connect. I would suggest finding out just what is loose, and look at some other loaders at the dealer to learn more about the problems cause. Maybe wrong size pins, or something. Pull some and measure the holes, look for wear (shouldn't be any).
( Unless I am not making as 'abrupt' stops as you are, but I don't coast to a stop either).

thanks for all the input,some of the play left after the new 73''HD bucket was installed,i'am guessing a better quick attatch fit as was mentioned,also,with the linkage type setup on the loader there will be some associated play.when i said abrupt stop i was referring to when operating the loader.if you were raising the loader and just released the control lever you will notice the play that i am seeing and it is due to the linkage,an overlap of sorts with the pivots.i don't see that there will be any problem with longevity on this setup.i just had not experienced this condition before on other loaders i have used since they did'nt use the linkage type setup.

I have a '03 4410 with the 430 loader. I have noticed the same issue but have not given it consideration till I read this. I have not used the loader a whole lot to suspect wear and I have greased it well. I'm going to take a closer look.
