I noticed the four bolts holding my left front gear box on, had come loose the other day. The front axle had drained of oil (not good). The bolts that came loose are shown highlighted in the picture below.

It doesn't appear there's a gasket or seal on that interface, so I just tightened the bolts down and refilled the axle with oil.
The next day I notice a small leak from this location, even though the bolts are tightened. I don't see a seal/gasket of any kind in the parts diagram, am I doing something wrong here?

Should I just use some gasket sealant (like Permatex)?

the 4 bolts get red locktight and where a gasket would go is black rtv someone probably did seal #5 , and took the knuckle off , and didnt lock tight the bolts .

So you are saying I should use black RTV where the yellow highlight is? And red locktight on the 4 bolts?
